Sally says this in the beginning of the movie, when Aunt Jet and Aunt Frances are telling the girls about the Owens' family curse. Aunt Jet and Aunt Frances are telling the girls that their father died because of the family curse. Sally then asks if this is the reason her mother died. Sally and Gillian are sisters; they both went to live with their aunts when their father and mother died.

This is said when the aunts are telling Sally and Gillian about the Owens' family curse. Aunt Frances says "What about my poor Ethan?". Aunt Jet then says "It was an accident". Aunt Frances then says "It was fate!". This argument goes on for a while because Aunt Jet belives in the curse but she doesn't want Sally and Gillian not living their lives because of it, Aunt Frances on the other hand thinks that Sally and Gillian should know about the curse so they are prepared.

Gillian says this when you see her dancing by the pool, and this is where we first see Jimmy Angelov. Gillian says this in a letter to her sister Sally. Gillian ran away from home when she was younger because she wanted adventure and she wanted to be somewhere that nobody had ever heard of her.

After years of being on her own she writes a letter to her sister Sally telling her that she has a lot of close friends and that she has never been happier.

Jimmy says this after he grabs Gillian and Sally comes to find her. He tells Sally to drive while he and Gillian are in the back seat, Jimmy also holds a gun to Gillian's head.

This is the first time we see Gary Hallet. He shows up when Sally is chopping down the roses that grew up over Jimmy's grave. Gary is a detective who is investigating the disappearance of Jimmy.

Antonia says this to Kylie after they find their mom's old love spell which listed different characteristics of the perfect man, in Sally's opinion, and being able to flip pancakes in the air was one of the characteristics. Antonia sees Gary flip pancakes in the air. Antonia is one of Sally's daughters; her other daughter is Kylie. Antonia looks like Sally while Kylie looks like Gillian.

This is said at the end of the movie when the Owens family are about to jump off the roof dressed as witches on Halloween. She is talking about the Owens' family curse, and how Sally broke it when Sally and Gillian held hands and banished Jimmy's soul back to the grave.

It was two acts of love that finally broke the curse; the love between two sisters, (Sally and Gillian) and the love between Sally and Gary.
