Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Samuel Lapp, a small Amish boy, loses his father and travels from Lancaster County, PA, with his mother Rachel Lapp, to visit relatives in Baltimore. They go to the train terminal in Philadelphia to wait for their train. Samuel tells his mother that he has to go to the bathroom. What happens in the bathroom?

Answer: Samuel witnesses a man being killed.

Samuel first sees the victim, an undercover detective, rinsing his face at the sink in the bathroom. The man smiles at him, and then two bad men come into the bathroom and slit his throat in front of Samuel, while Samuel is hiding in a bathroom stall.
2. What actor plays Detective McFee, who takes part in killing the man in the bathroom?

Answer: Danny Glover

Danny Glover has played a wide range of interesting parts, including in the "Lethal Weapon" movies, where he plays a good detective, teaming up with his pal, Mel Gibson. However, as McFee, he is a highly decorated veteran detective, turned corrupt. He makes a drug bust on a PCP shipment, and gets an award for his bust.

The PCP was taken to a warehouse for storage, and the drugs were then stolen. The undercover cop that McFee kills was on McFee's trail as the one behind the theft of the PCP. McFee turned around and sold the PCP on the black market for a huge profit. McFee has no problem killing the undercover cop.
3. After the man is killed in the bathroom, McFee hears a noise, and checks the bathroom stalls. A terrified Samuel is still in the stall and at the last split second manages to move into a stall that Danny Glover has already checked. He stands motionless on top of the toilet.

Answer: True

Samuel is terrified, and is extremely lucky to avoid being seen by Danny Glover. Although Samuel is Amish and not worldly, his instincts of self-preservation are keen. The suspense is thick in this scene.
4. John Book, played by Harrison Ford, is called to investigate the crime at the train station, along with his partner, Carter. They interview Samuel. They ask Samuel if he can describe the killer. What does he say?

Answer: "There were two men. I only saw one."

When ask to describe Danny Glover's character, he points to Carter and says "Stupig". Rachel explains that on a farm when a pig is small it is called stupig. Book says, "So he's a big guy, like me." Samuel grins and responds, "Big guy!"
5. Book takes Rachel and Samuel to his sister Elaine's house for the night. Who plays Elaine?

Answer: Patty Lupone

Patty Lupone, who plays Elaine, is best known as a Broadway star. She is amazing in this movie, as Elaine, Book's sister. Her part is small but intense, as later in the movie she is questioned by Schaffer and McFee, who come looking for her brother. She knows, without a doubt, that he would not do anything wrong.
6. The next day Book takes Rachel and Samuel to the police station to look at mug shots. Samuel does not indentify any suspects. Book is busy with other things, and Samuel decides to walk around. He goes to a trophy case, and sees a picture of McFee, Danny Glover's character, and stares. What does he do next?

Answer: He looks at Book and points at the picture.

This is a big moment in the movie, when Samuel identifies McFee's photo in the trophy case. Ironically, he was being awarded for a big arrest in the photo. Book quickly bends Samuel's pointer finger down, and the music is very intense. Book knows that this murder was an inside job, and that the situation has changed completely.
7. Book knows that he has to go to his boss, Paul Schaffer, right away to tell him about McFee being behind the killing. He goes to Schaffer's house and tells him that it is McFee from Narcotics. Schaffer wants to know where McFee is. What does Book say?

Answer: "Vacation, Florida."

Schaffer is in on it with McFee and knows that he has to cover his tracks quickly, because Book is an honest, good detective. Schaffer is so corrupt, that he isn't about to admit to Book that he is guilty of anything.
8. Book leaves his office and is in a parking garage. Someone starts shooting at him. What happens next?

Answer: McFee shoots Book, and he is badly wounded.

Book knows that he has to take matters into his own hands and must protect Samuel and Rachel by getting them back to the Lapp Farm in Lancaster County, PA. He knows that there will be no trial, and that he will die if necessary to protect them.
9. Book is badly wounded, needs to get to Elaine's house, pick up Rachel and Samuel, and return them safely to Lancaster County to their home. Elaine takes one look at Book and knows that there is something wrong. What does he tell his worried sister?

Answer: To let him borrow her car, and put his car in the garage.

Book is literally bleeding to death when he gets to Elaine's house. He is barely able to stay awake, and drive to Lancaster County to the Lapp farm.
10. A wounded Book, calls his partner, Carter, while he is still in Philadelphia. Book knows that he must protect Samuel, and that there will be no trial for the murder of the undercover detective in the train station, because he was murdered by McFee and his accomplices. What does he say to Carter?

Answer: "I want all the paperwork to disappear."

Carter cannot believe that Book wants the paperwork to disappear. Book is not telling him anything else in order to protect him. Book is having Carter destroy the paperwork so that Rachel and Samuel's information cannot be found. Book knows that McFee and Schaffer will try and come after them, and kill them if necessary.
