It was also chosen as the Italian entry to the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958, finishing third. Combining all versions of the song, sales totaled 22 million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful Eurovision songs ever.

"All I Have to Do Is Dream" was written by Boudleaux Bryant of the husband-and-wife songwriting team Felice and Boudleaux Bryant. It was the only single ever to be ranked number one on all of the Billboard singles charts at the same time, on June 2, 1958.
