1. Robin Beck was a true 'One Hit Wonder' when her one and only UK single release reached number one in the charts. What was the song?

Answer: First Time

"First Time" spent three weeks at number one, from November 1988, and was on the chart for thirteen weeks in total.
It's popularity was increased as it was used in a TV advert for Coke.
2. The best selling independently released single in the UK in 1989 was "Voodoo Ray". It was by A Guy Called ____ - what was his name?

Answer: Gerald

"Voodoo Ray" reached number 55 on the UK Singles Chart in April of 1989, then re-entered the chart in June to peak at number 12.
A Guy Called Gerald was the recording name of Manchester born producer and musician Gerald Simpson.
3. Who warned us that "Love is Contagious" in 1988?

Answer: Taja Sevelle

Taja Sevelle reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart with "Love is Contagious", and spent nine weeks on the chart.
Her only other UK single release was called "Wouldn't You Love to Love Me" which reached number 59, also in 1988.

Tone Loc took "Funky Cold Medina" to number thirteen in the UK Singles Charts in 1989. It was a follow up to his debut single "Wild Thing", which had reached number 21 three months earlier in the same year.

"Piano in the Dark" by Brenda Russell reached number 23, and spent 12 weeks on the UK Singles Chart, in 1988.

Answer: Freiheit

Also known as Münchener Freiheit, the band took "Keeping the Dream Alive" to number fourteen on the UK Singles Chart in December 1988. It was their only single to be released in the UK.

Answer: Stefan Dennis

Stefan Dennis played Paul Robinson in "Neighbours", and it was his fame as a TV star that helped popularise his single on it's release in 1989.
The song reached number sixteen on the UK Singles Chart, and Stefan's follow up single "This Love Affair" made it to number 67 later on in 1989.
8. Michelle Shocked reached her highest UK Singles Chart position of the 1980s with a song having the name of a US city as its title. What was it called?

Answer: Anchorage

"Anchorage" reached number 60 in the UK Singles Chart in 1988. Michelle's only other UK single releases, both in 1989, only made it to 61 and 63.

Answer: Darling Buds

"Let's Go Round There" was the third of six singles released in the UK by the Darling Buds, between 1988 and 1992. It reached number 49 in the Singles Chart in 1989.
10. Who sang "Hey Music Lover"?

Answer: S Express

When it reached number six on the UK Singles Charts, in 1989, "Hey Music Lover" became their third and last Top Ten hit.
They had previously had a number one hit with "Theme From S Express", and a number five hit with "Superfly Guy", both in 1988.
The band released three more singles in the UK, but none of them made it into the Top 20.
