Answer: Don Giovanni

The title character from Mozart's "Don Giovanni" is an example of a really rotten guy who is very likable. He gets dragged down to hell at the end for his evil ways.

Richard Strauss' "Salome" features the title character who, if she were alive today, would be classified as antisocial and be serving time in a juvenile prison. She is so bad that she even disgusts her degenerate stepfather, who has her killed.
6. I married Cio-Cio-San and had a child with her. Then I left Japan and returned to the United States. I always meant to write her and tell her we were through, but I never got around to it. Now I'm returning to Nagasaki with my new wife to bring my kid back to the States. I'm not a bad guy. Really!

Answer: Lieutenant Pinkerton

Pinkerton, from Puccini's "Madama Butterfly", is one of my most disliked operatic characters. You would never guess that Pinkerton was such a rat from listening to his gorgeous music.
7. Even though she doesn't like me, I'm going to have Tosca. She's coming over tonight to bribe me with her body to get her boyfriend, Mario, out of jail. I'll have her and kill her boyfriend to boot. So who is going to stop me?

Things don't work out for Scarpia quite as he had planned. Tosca kills him just when Scarpia thinks he has her. Puccini's "Tosca" has been a favorite with singers and audiences alike since its premiere.
8. I am so bored here in the country. It is filled with such quaint rustics as Tatania, who wrote this silly letter saying she loved me! Poor child. Now, just because I flirted with my friend Lensky's girlfriend, he wants to have a duel with me. Get me out of here!

Answer: Eugene Onegin

Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin" ends not with violence, but with heartbreak. Onegin falls in love with Tatiana many years later, but he is too late since she is now married. Onegin has to win the award as the biggest snob in all of opera.
9. I can't believe this guy Jose! Just because I used to be his girlfriend he thinks he owns me. I much prefer Escamillo. He's a bullfighter and he is SO gorgeous. My friends tell me to get out of town because Jose is looking for me. But I'm not running. You can't hide from fate.

Answer: Carmen

Bizet's "Carmen" is one of the top three operas in terms of popularity. Carmen is a very challenging role, both vocally and dramatically.
10. I was only trying to help! Buoso Donati died and left all his money to the monks. His relatives were frantic. As a favor to them I pretended to be the dying Donati and dictated a new will, leaving everything to myself! Donati's relatives weren't too happy with that either. You just can't please some people!

Answer: Gianni Schicchi

Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi" is a comic masterpiece. Gianni reveals to the audience at the end that he was condemned to the eighth circle of hell by Dante. That doesn't bother him too much. He just wants your applause.
