This outrageous-looking rock band featured twice in the UK Top 40 chart back in 1983 with "I Am (I'm Me)" and then "The Kids Are Back".

This brilliant duo had their highest UK chart success with the classic track 'Wishful Thinking' in January of 1984. I saw them again in concert this year and they are still as good! :0)

Answer: Fine Young Cannibals

As well as with their many other UK hits, they went to number 7 in April 1989 with 'Good Thing', which featured on the soundtrack to the film 'Tin Men', with Danny De Vito and Richard Dreyfuss. ('Longpig' is the word cannibals used to use for human beings by the way...eugh!)

Toto's highest UK chart success was when they went to number 3 with 'Africa' in February 1983. (But any band who can squeeze the lyrics "Kilimanjaro rising above the Serengeti" into a pop tune and get away with it deserves a mention I reckon lol).

Answer: Al Jarreau

Al Jarreau charted at number 8 in March 1987, singing the theme tune for the completely brilliant TV series "Moonlighting", starring Cybil Sheppard and Bruce Willis (in the days before he was wooed away to Tinsel Town and vest-ripping megastardom).

Answer: Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five

This outstanding line-up of talent charted at number 8 in August 1982 with the brilliant track "The Message".

Answer: Salt-n-Pepa

Amazingly, between June 1988 and December 1999 Salt-n-Pepa entered the UK charts an astounding 16 times, but only ever managed to get as high as number 2- once with "Push It" and then with "Let's Talk About Sex". Both tracks are 80's classics :0)

Answer: Men Without Hats

Oh Wow! What a weird combo this was! Men Without Hats reached number 6 in October 1983 with "The Safety Dance". The Dali-esque video which accompanied the track in the UK featured (amongst other things) the lead singer, a couple of beautiful girls and (strangely) one or two midgets all skipping merrily along on their way to a sort of medeival fairground! Mind you...I suppose it did the trick if I can still remember it nearly 20 years down the line!

Answer: Mr. Mister

(Firstly, I apologise for the excrutiating clue :0)) ) Mr. Mister went to number 4 in December 1985 with the track "Broken Wings".

Answer: Kenny Loggins

Kenny Loggins' only UK chart hit was in April 1984 when he took the theme song of the Kevin Bacon dance-flick "Footloose" to number 6. The track's a classic, but any film where we get to see a pre-lardy Christopher Penn (Reservoir Dogs' Nice Guy Eddie) doing a distinctly uncool and totally rythymless dance routine is PRICELESS! lol

Answer: Bill Medley And Jennifer Warnes

It appears we couldn't get enough of Mr. Medley and Ms. Warnes' track "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life", which featured on the soundtrack of the film "Dirty Dancing"; it went to number 6 in October 1987 but then re-entered the charts at number 8 in December 1990! We're a strange lot us Brits, you know.

Answer: Bow Wow Wow

Bow Wow Wow had three UK chart hits in the 80's, the highest of which was "Go Wild In The Country", which went to number 7 in January 1982. Trivia Titbit: The group's lead singer, Annabella Lwin, was discovered by ex-Sex Pistol's manager Malcolm McClaren when he took his dirty laundry into his local launderette and overheard Annabella singing to herself whilst she did the ironing!

Answer: Human League

This band originated from my home town of Sheffield, England, and had an impressive 17 UK chart entries between May 1981 and January 1996. However, they only achieved the coveted number one spot once in December 1981 with the track "Don't You Want Me". (Yay! Go Sheffield! :0))...Hey, don't knock my burst of civic pride!.... Prior to this lot coming along, Sheffield was really only noted for its stainless steel and cutlery production, and who wants to be famous solely for knives and forks? lolol)

Answer: Crowded House

This excellent band had 13 UK chart hits between June 1987 and November 1996, the highest of which was their classic track "Weather With You", which reached number 7 in February 1992. (And on a personal note, if you only ever buy one compilation CD let me recommend you buy the Best Of Crowded House....it's totally brilliant! :0) )

Answer: Supertramp

Out of the 5 UK chart hits Supertramp were responsible for, the best position was achieved by "The Logical Song", which went to number 7 in March 1979. It has since been covered by the abysmal 'Scooter', who managed to get it to the heady heights of the number 2 spot in June of 2002.

Answer: Taylor Dayne

Taylor Dayne took "Tell It To My Heart" to number 3 in January 1988, then managed to squeeze another few miles out of the track when it was re-mixed and re-entered the UK Top 40 at number 23 in January 1996. (I remember her mainly because I always thought she looked MIGHTY scary in her original '88 video which accompanied the song!) lol.

Answer: Judas Priest

Despite being of UK origins, Judas Priest have achieved far greater success in the US than they have in their homeland. The highest chart position they've managed here was with the tracks "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight", both of which only got to the number 12 spot in June 1980.

Answer: Hall And Oates

The best UK chart position this talented duo achieved was in October 1982 when "Maneater" went to number 6. I could never understand why they didn't have more than their five hits over here though, because I always liked them :0).

Answer: Pigbag

"Papa's Got A Brand New Pigbag", by Pigbag, is one of my all-time favourite 80's tracks. I only have to hear about five notes and it takes me straight back to some of the best times of my life :0))) It got to number 3 in April 1982.
