Answer: Bobby Vee

The song peaked at Number Three in 1963. Bobby Vee's top hits were "Take Good Care of My Baby" (Number One in 1961) and "Run to Him" (Number Two in 1961). Born Robert Veline, he formed a group called The Shadows in Fargo, North Dakota in 1959. After the tragic plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and J.P. Richardson (Big Bopper), The Shadows filled in for Buddy Holly at his next scheduled show in Fargo.
2. Which two vocalists had hits with "Black Denim Trousers"?

Answer: Cheers and Vaughn Monroe

In 1955, the Cheers version charted at Number Six and Monroe's at Number 38. For the Cheers, it was a "one hit wonder." Vaughn Monroe was a Big Band singer and band leader. This was his attempt to move into the era of rock and roll.
3. "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia" was a Number One hit for Ray Charles.

In 1973, it was a hit for Vicki Lawrence (a "one hit wonder" for the actress in Carol Burnett's show and "Mama's Family"). Ray Charles had a top hit with "Georgia on My Mind" (Number One in 1960).
