She was once a Seattle police officer. She also learned from her grandfather and an uncle who were Michigan sheriffs, a cousin who was a prosecuting attorney and another uncle who was a medical examiner.

Her daughter Leslie Rule has published "Whispers From the Grave" and "Kill Me Again". She also has a new book out entitled "Coast to Coast Ghosts-True Stories of Hauntings Across America".

Answer: She was friends with the killer.

Ann worked closely with Ted Bundy at a crisis hotline center. She is reported to be the only true crime writer who knew a killer personally before, during and after his crimes.

Her maiden name was Stackhouse and everyone called her dad Stack, so she used that along with her son's name Andy.

When she first submitted her work to detective magazines, the publisher told her that, even though her work was good, no one would believe it was done by a woman. He would only publish her work if she used a male pseudonym.

Ann saved everything she could in preparation to write this book in the event of a conviction. That conviction finally came in December 2003.
