Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) was an American architect, writer, educator and interior designer. In a career spanning 70 years he designed over 1,000 structures. He was born on June 8 in Wisconson and his work included receiving Gold Awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects and the American Institute of Architects.

George Orwell (1903-1950) although a British novelist, essayist and journalist he was born in India on June 25th. His best known works are "Animal Farm" (1945) and "Nineteen Eighty-Four" (1949). He was very outspoken on anti-fascism, anti-Stalin democratic socialism. He travelled to Spain and reported on experiences during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and while there on the front line of the Republicans he was wounded in the throat by a sniper's bullet. He survived and made his escape from Spain.

He then starred in as many movies as Jungle Jim in the 1940s and 1950s.

He starred in "Captain Blood" (1935) and "The Charge of the Light Brigade" but his most successful movie was as Robin Hood in " The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1938) opposite Olivia de Havlland. He starred in a number of other movies in the 1940s and 1950s.

Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was born on June 7 in Paris, France. He was a painter, sculpture and engraver and he was involved in the movements of Impressionism and post Impressionism. Towards the end of his life he spent over 10 years in French Polynesia. Anthony Quinn portrayed Gauguin in the 1956 movie "Lust for Life" in which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
