The legend says that Captain Bligh's harsh treatment of the crew caused them to mutiny. They placed the captain and 18 of his crew in an open boat and set it adrift. They managed to sail over 3000 miles and land in Timor. Some dispute the notion that Bligh was cruel and instead blame a six month stay in Tahiti.

It seems the crew grew attached to the Tahitians and they were unhappy about having to leave in order to complete their assignment of delivering breadfruit trees to the West Indies.

After escaping from his first exile on Elba, Napoleon gathered an army together and reclaimed his imperial throne. However keeping his throne was another matter. Knowing that the armies of Europe would gather to depose him, he decided to march to Belgium to surprise the British and Prussians.

At the village of Waterloo, he attacked the British army which was led by the Duke of Wellington. Napoleon risked everything and threw everything he had at the British. But the British remained steadfast until 72,000 Prussian troops came to aid them. Napoleon escaped but surrendered to the British four days later.

This time he was exiled to the island of St Helena in the south Atlantic Ocean where he remained a prisoner until his death in 1821.

Answer: Abraham Lincoln

President Lincoln was assassinated while attending a play at Ford's Theater. Prior to his murder, Lincoln reported having a dream in which he saw his body was lying in state in the White House. According to William Crook, one of Lincoln's bodyguards, it was Lincoln's habit to say "Good night Crook" each evening when Crook was relieved by another officer.

But on that night, Lincoln said, "Goodbye Crook."

Custer hurried ahead of the infantry supporting him and attacked an Indian village. He also split up his forces to prevent survivors of the inital charge from escaping. Thousands of Native American warriors surrounded Custer's unit and killed all 210 men.

By this time Jesse had moved near St Joseph, Missouri and was posing as an average family man named Howard. Against his better judgement, he allowed Charley and Bob Ford to join his gang. They were planning their next robbery in Jesse's living room when legend states Jesse turned his back on the Fords to straighten a picture. Bob Ford shot Jesse in the back to collect a reward. Bob Ford went down in history as the "dirty little coward that shot Mr. Howard."

Dr. Albert Hoffman accidentally ingested his newly created compound while working on developing new medicines. His feet became restless and he became dizzy. He decided to stop work and ride his bicycle home. Upon relaxing at home he fell into a dream-like trance.

He saw vivid hallucinations for about two hours. Three days later he deliberately took his compound, LSD 25, to be sure it had caused the hallucinations and confirmed his suspicion.

Sir Edmund Hillary and his native guide Tenzing Norgay arrived upon the summit of Mount Everest, the highest spot on the planet at 29,028 feet above sea level. Hillary went on to other expeditions but this was his crowning achievement. He returned to Nepal to supervise the building of schools and hospitals and to draw attention to the Sherpa people who moved from Tibet about 500 years ago to be closer to their sacred mountain which they call Chomolungma.
