Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The writer of 1 and 2 Corinthians in the New Testament

Answer: Who is Paul?

Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, is credited with writing thirteen books in the New Testament, including 1 and 2 Corinthians. The two books were addressed to believers in the early church at Corinth, a city in Greece. Using Bible versions such as the NKJV and the NIV, 1 Corinthians consists of sixteen chapters while 2 Corinthians has thirteen chapters.
2. The father of blind Bartimaeus

Answer: Who is Timaeus?

Timaeus was the father of blind Bartimaeus, as per Mark 10:46. However, little is known about Timaeus as he is mentioned in passing reference. Scripture tells of Timaeus' son Bartimaeus miraculously gaining his sight after a dramatic encounter with Jesus at Jericho. According to Mark 10:52, Jesus told Bartimaeus his faith had made him well.
3. The worker in the early church who became sick and almost died

Answer: Who is Epaphroditus?

Phlippians 3:25-31 tells of Epaphroditus, a worker in the early church, becoming "sick almost unto death". Paul, the writer of Philippians, states one reason Epaphroditus became seriously ill is the fact he did not regard his life and was fully committed to serving Christ and others in the early church. In the passage, Paul describes Epaphroditus as his brother, fellow worker and fellow soldier.
4. A man described by Paul as a "fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus"

Answer: Who is Epaphras?

In Philemon 1:23, Paul describes Epaphras as his "fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus." Little is known about Epaphras, but it is believed he came from Colosse, an ancient city in modern-day Turkey, and that he was a man of prayer. In
Colossians 4:12, Paul states Epaphras, "who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."
5. The man who Peter lodged with after raising Dorcas from the dead

Answer: Who is Simon the tanner?

After miraculously raising Dorcas for the dead at Joppa, Scripture tells of Peter lodging with Simon the tanner. However, little is known about Simon, even though his name is mentioned three times in Scripture -- Acts 9:43, 10:6 and 10:32. In all three instances, his name is mentioned in passing reference, although the two references in Acts 10 states Simon's house was by the sea.
6. A prophet and teacher in the early church

Answer: Who is Lucius of Cyrene?

Lucius of Cyrene was a teacher and prophet in the early church, as per Acts 13:1. His name appears along with Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. In other words, he must have been a notable figure to have his name used with such company.

In Romans, Paul extends greetings to the members of the early church in Rome on behalf of Timothy, Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater.
7. A worker in the early church on the island of Crete who received a letter from Paul

Answer: Who is Titus?

Titus was a worker in the early church who received a letter from Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles. The letter has become part of the New Testament and is now known as the Epistle of Titus. It is known Titus was serving on the island of Crete when he received the letter because Paul makes mention in Titus 1:5 about leaving him at that location.

In his letter, Paul sets out guidelines for Titus about the correct way to operate a church.
8. The third last book in the KJV New Testament

Answer: What is 3 John?

In order of appearance, 3 John is the third last book in the New Testament. It is followed by Jude and Revelation and preceded by 1 John and 2 John. 3 John consists of only one chapter.

Tradition holds John, one of the original Twelve Disciples, wrote 1 John, 2 John and 3 John as well as the Gospel of John and Revelation.
9. The community where sleepy Eutychus was raised from the dead

Answer: What is Troas?

It was in Troas where Eutychus fell asleep in a third storey window and plunged to his death while the apostle Paul was preaching. When the people rushed downstairs to investigate, they found Eutychus' lifeless body. Miraculously, Paul raised the young man from the dead. Afterwards, Paul went back upstairs and after breaking bread, started to preach again. For details, see Acts 20:7-12.

Troas was an ancient Greek city in Asia Minor, now known as Turkey.
10. The community where Jesus turned water into wine

Answer: What is Cana?

John 2:1-12 tells of Jesus turning water into wine at a wedding feast in Cana. It was Christ's first miracle. Cana, a community in Galilee, was the hometown of Nathanael, one of the original Twelve Disciples. It was in Cana that Jesus also healed a nobleman's son, as per John 4:46-54.
