Answer: Who is Gad?

Gad was the oldest son of Jacob and Zilpah, Leah's handmaiden. According to Genesis 30:20-11, Leah said, "A troop comes!" as she was giving birth. According to notes in the NKJV Study Bible, 'troop' can be translated as 'fortune' and the name Gad means 'fortune' or 'troop'.

Later, Jacob and Zilpah would become the parents of a second son, Asher.
2. The parents of Solomon

Answer: Who are David and Bathsehba?

David and Bathsehba were the parents of Solomon, one of the best known kings of Israel. Bathsheba became David's wife after the two had an adulterous affair while her soldier husband Uriah was away in battle. Scripture tells of David orchestrating the death of Uriah.
3. The person who commissioned twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan for the Israelites

Answer: Who is Moses?

Numbers 13 tells of Moses receiving instructions from God to send twelve men to spy out the land of Canaan before the Israelites moved into the territory. One man was selected from each of the twelve tribes for the endeavour. Those selected were Zaccur, Shaphat, Caleb, Igal, Hoshea, Palti, Gaddiel, Gaddi, Ammiel, Sethur, Nahbi and Geuel, as per Numbers 13:4-15.

Joshua commissioned two unnamed men to spy out Jericho and area, as per Joshua 2:1. At this point in time, Joshua had replaced Moses as leader of the Israelites.

The chapter goes on to tell of the two spies being given safe haven in the house of Rahab the prostitute. Later, when the Israelites conquered the city, they spared the lives of Rahab and her family.

Answer: Who is Kish?

Saul, the first king of Israel, was the son of Kish, as per 1 Samuel 9:1. Scripture states Kish was a Benjamite and the son of Abiel and the grandson of Zeror. Kish is described as "a mighty man of power" in the NKJV.

Answer: Who is Hoshea?

Joshua, the son of Nun, was originally known as Hoshea, as per Numbers 13:8. He was apparently given the name Joshua by Moses, the leader of the Israelites at the time. According to notes in the NKJV Study Bible, Joshua means 'Jehovah saves'.

Answer: Who is Deborah?

Deborah was the only female judge of Israel. Under her dynamic leadership, the Israelites scored a spectacular military victory over the Canaanites. Her husband was Lapidoth but little is known about him as he is mentioned in passing reference. For details about Deborah, see Judges 4 and 5.

Answer: Who is Rehoboam?

Rehoboam replaced his father Solomon as king of Israel. His mother was Naamah. According to 1 Kings 14:21, Rehoboam became king when he was forty-one years old, reigning for seventeen years. it was during his reign a bloody civil war erupted with Judah breaking away from Israel.

Answer: Who are Shiphrah and Puah?

Shiphrah and Puah were two Hebrew midwives in Egypt, as per Exodus 1:15-22. The passage tells of the two women being instructed by the Pharaoh to kill all the male Hebrew babies. However, Shiphrah and Puah "feared God" and did not follow the Pharaoh's orders.
10. The writer of a book in the Minor Prophet section of the Old Testament

Answer: Who is Habakkuk?

Habakkuk is the writer of one of twelve books that appear in the Minor Prophet section of the Old Testament. Using the KJV, NKJV and the NIV, Habakkuk consists of three chapters and in the order of appearance is the fourth last book in the Old Testament.

It is followed by Zephhaniah, Haggai and Zechariah. The first two chapters of Habakkuk consists of a conversation between Habakkuk and God.
