Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. II Peter: What does chapter three talk about?

Answer: The day of the Lord

Chapter three of 2 Peter says that when the day of the Lord comes, the Earth will be destroyed by fire, and that believing Christians should be looking forward to a new Heaven and a new Earth, the home of righteousness. False teachers and their destruction are discussed in chapter two, and the others are both in chapter one. 2 Peter only has three chapters, unlike 1 Peter, which has five.
2. II John: Where do we find the verse "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."? (This reference is from the NIV.)

Answer: 1 John 1:9

1 John says that a person can claim to be sinless only by deceiving himself or herself but that God will forgive and purify those who confess their sins. This is an important element of much Christian belief. This is a quick summary of 1 John 1:8-9.
3. II John: How many people are mentioned by name in the greetings in verses 1-3? (Don't count "God" as a name.)

Answer: 1

The greetings only mention Jesus Christ by name. However, in some translations the book 2 John also mentions Kyria which some people would also consider a name meaning dear lady (Kyria is the Greek for dear lady). This does not, however, appear in the greetings of the letter.
4. III John: To whom is this book addressed?

Answer: Gaius

This can be found in verse 1. John addressed the book to Gaius, "whom I love in the truth". No one else is mentioned in the greetings by name.
5. Jude: What are the first and last words of this book in the NIV?

Answer: "Jude" and "Amen"

Here's how the book begins: "Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance." - Jude 1:1-2.

And this is how it ends: "To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy - to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen." - Jude 1:24-25
6. Revelation: Revelation 21 says that the foundations of the city walls of the new Jerusalem were each a precious stone. Which of the following stones isn't one of the ones mentioned as forming the foundations in the New International Version?

Answer: Gold

"The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst." - Revelation 21:19-20.

The city itself is made of pure gold.
7. Well, it seems like we have four too many questions. The next four questions will be about the books of the Bible. What book of the Bible comes after Hezekiah?

Answer: Hezekiah isn't a book in the Bible

Hezekiah isn't a book of the Bible, Hezekiah was a king of Judah who did right in the eyes of the Lord. During his time as king, he got really sick and was told that he would never recover, but he prayed to the Lord and was given 15 more years to live.

Then he died and Manasseh, his son, succeeded him as king. Hezekiah's story can be found in 2 Kings 18-20. In Christian editions of the Old Testament, Zechariah comes after Haggai, Zephaniah comes after Habukkuk and Lamentations comes after Jeremiah.
8. Which book of the Bible doesn't belong in this list?

Answer: James

Joshua, Ruth and Esther are all in the Old Testament. James doesn't belong because it's in the New Testament. Joshua gives the story of the Israelites from the point of Moses' death through Joshua's death. Ruth gives the story of Ruth and her mother-in-law Naomi after the death of Naomi's husband and Naomi's two sons (including Ruth's husband). Esther gives the story of Esther, from when queen Vashti was banished from the king's palace through the events following the execution of Haman.

It includes the celebrations of Jewish holidays in Persia and the greatness of Esther's cousin Mordecai in Persia.
9. The book of Jude is in the New Testament.

Answer: True

The book of Jude comes right before Revelation, which is the last book of the Bible. Jude is a small, one-chapter book written by Jude and is addressed to "those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ".
10. You may know that Psalms is the longest book of the Bible with 150 chapters, but which book of the Bible has the second-highest number of chapters?

Answer: Isaiah

The word of the Lord came to "Isaiah son of Amoz during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah" (Isaiah 1), and contains 66 chapters. Jeremiah comes in third with 52, Genesis comes in fourth with 50 and Ezekiel comes in fifth with 48.
