Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What town did Joseph live in when the angel Gabriel visited him?

Answer: Nazareth

Luke 1:26. Gabriel was sent there by God in the sixth month to tell Mary she would be giving birth to Jesus. Mary pondered on how was she able to have children being a virgin - the same thing Joseph thought while Mary was pregnant with Jesus. He even thought of divorce, but Gabriel appeared to him in a dream telling him to stay with Mary, because with God, nothing was impossible.
2. When God came to Solomon in a dream, what did Solomon ask God to give him?

Answer: an understanding heart

1 Kings 3:9. God told Solomon he would give him anything he'd ask for. Knowing God favored his father King David well, he asked him for an understanding heart. He asked him because he didn't know how to rule his kingdom at that time.
3. How did Zacharias tell people the name of his son?

Answer: Wrote on a tablet

Luke 1:62-63. Gabriel visited the priest Zacharias in a temple to tell him he would have a son. That son's name was John the Baptist. Zacharias didn't believe he would have a child at his age, because he and his wife Elizabeth were past the childbearing stage of their marriage.

As a result, Gabriel struck Zacharias dumb, meaning he wouldn't be able to talk, until the child is born. When the pregnancy was over, Zacharias had a crowd of people around him, and after he wrote his son's name on a tablet, the Lord gave him back his ability to talk.
4. How did Gideon's army win the battle against the Midianites?

Answer: They blew trumpets and smashed jars.

Judges 7:19-21. The story of Gideon is given in Judges chapter 7 and 8. He was the leading general chosen by God to fight the Midianites. They were oppressing Israel and made them hide in caves, dens, and rocks. Gideon took only 300 men with him to fight the Midianites, and when they blew the trumpets, broke the jars, and shouted "The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon", the Midianites were afraid and started attacking each other.

He was a Judge for 40 years, had 71 sons, and died in a good old age. Gideon also went by the name Jerubaal.
5. What type of bird brought food to Elijah?

Answer: raven

1 Kings 17:5-6. Elijah resided on the side of the brook Cherith. The ravens brought him food because he had no home to cook a meal for himself.
6. What type of tree did little Zacchaeus climb in order to see Jesus?

Answer: Sycamore

Luke 19:4. Zacchaeus was a rich tax collector. One day, there was a huge crowd around Jesus, so Zacchaeus wanted to see Him. Unfortunately, he couldn't because he was too short. In fact, shorter than everyone present at the time. So he climbed a tree to see Jesus and it caught Jesus's attention.

Then He told Zacchaeus to come down from the tree because Jesus would be staying at Zacchaeus's home for a bit. Jesus later convinced him to give up robbing people of their taxes.
7. What did God tell Noah was His sign of never flooding the whole earth again?

Answer: a rainbow

Genesis 9:13-15. God felt sorry he ever made man because they were all wicked so he decided to kill them all with a flood. Noah was the only living righteous man on the Earth when the Lord decided to send the Great Flood. God instructed him to build an ark to help him survive the flood.

The ones aboard the Ark: Noah, his sons, his wife, and their sons' wives, and all clean animals by sevens and unclean animals by twos, were saved. When it was over God gave him this sign as a symbol of promise.
8. Samson's strength depended on his keeping three vows. Which of these was cut, leaving him weak?

Answer: his hair

Judges 16:17. Samson was the strongest man that ever lived but he had a weakness. His birth was foretold by an angel, and that angel told his parents that nothing shall cut his hair. For Samson was a Nazarite and being a Nazarite he had three restrictions, (1.

Not to drink wine, or eat grapes, 2. Never touch a dead body, 3. Never cut your hair.) He told this secret to Delilah, a woman he loved, and it led him to his downfall. If his hair was ever cut, he would lose his strength. Samson's story is found in Judges 13-16.

He judged Israel for 20 years.
9. What skin disease did the brave soldier Naaman have?

Answer: Leprosy

2 Kings 5:1. Naaman was a brave soldier, but he was a leper. Elisha the prophet told him to go dip himself in the Jordan River seven times and he would be healed. Naaman was angry and unfaithful but he eventually went after he was convinced by his servants to go there.

After Naaman was healed he wanted to thank Elisha by giving him gifts, but Elisha refused. Elisha told Gehazi his servant not to accept any gifts. Gehazi did the opposite and as a result, Elisha told him that he and his descendants will have leprosy for eternity.
10. What did Moses say to Pharaoh after coming to Egypt to free his people?

Answer: "Let my people go."

Exodus 5:1. The most famous words spoken by Moses. Moses was chosen to deliver Israel from the hands of the Egyptians. Moses was once a prince of Egypt, until he killed an Egyptian man and buried him in the sand. The Pharaoh knew this, and wanted him dead so he ran away from Egypt. During his time away, he got married, had a son, and became a shepherd for his father-in-law. One day on Mt. Horeb, God came to him in the form of a burning bush telling him to go back to Egypt to free his people.
