Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which person was asked this question by God: "Who told you that you were naked?"

Answer: Adam

Adam was asked the question by God, as per Genesis 3:11. The question was asked after Adam and his wife Eve had eaten forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. According to Scripture, Adam and Eve became embarrassed they were naked after eating the fruit and as a result hid from God.

Scripture tells of God walking in the Garden of Eden and when He didn't see Adam and Eve, He asked Adam, "Where are you?" In response, Adam said, "I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself."

God then asked Adam who told him he was naked and then inquired if he had eaten forbidden fruit from the tree.

For the record, the first question by God in Scripture is found in Genesis 3:9 in which God asks about Adam's whereabouts.
2. Which person was asked this question by God: "Is anything too hard for the LORD?"

Answer: Abraham

The question was asked of Abraham after God announced he and his wife Sarah would become parents of a baby boy. This even though Abraham was one hundred years old and Sarah was ninety and they were childless. When Abraham and Sarah both expressed deep skepticism about God's pronouncement, He asked Abraham, "Is anything too hard for the LORD?"

See Genesis 18:1-15 for details.
3. Which person was asked these questions by God: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind?"

Answer: Moses

The questions were asked of Moses, as per Exodus 4:11. According to Scripture, Moses was highly reluctant to take on the role of appearing before the Pharaoh to request permission for the Israelites to make an exodus out of the country and head to Canaan, known as the Promised Land. One of the reasons Moses did not feel comfortable making the request is the fact he described himself as being "slow of speech and slow of tongue."

The remark by Moses prompted God to ask him two questions: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind?"

Scripture goes on to tell of Moses assuming responsibility to get permission for the Israelites to leave Egypt and to lead them on a forty-year-long journey to Canaan.
4. Which person was asked this question by God? "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Answer: Joshua

God asked the question of Joshua, as per Joshua 1:9. The question is part of a passage which runs from Joshua 1:1-9 in which God commissions Joshua to lead the Israelites across the Jordan River and into Canaan after they wandered in the wilderness for forty years. While in the wilderness, the Israelites were under the leadership of Moses. However, after the death of Moses, Joshua replaced him as leader.
5. Which person was asked these questions by God: "How long will these people reject Me? And how long will they not believe Me, with all the signs which I have performed among them?"

Answer: Moses

After the Israelites refused to enter Canaan, known as the Promised Land, Numbers 14:11 tells of God asking some pointed questions of Moses. The refusal of the Israelites to enter Canaan came after God had unleashed ten plagues on Egypt designed to convince the Pharaoh to grant permission to the Jews to be freed from slavery and to depart the county. Then on their forty-year-long journey to Canaan, Scripture tells of God miraculously providing the people with manna, quail and water. As a result, Scripture states God became angry the Israelites were rejecting Him by refusing to enter into Canaan.

Scripture goes on to tell of Moses interceding for the people and a change of heart by the people.
6. Which person was asked this question by God: "Son of man, can these bones live?"

Answer: Ezekiel

Ezekiel is the correct answer as per Ezekiel 37:3. The question asked by God is part of a passage telling of dry bones coming to life. The passage runs from Ezekiel 37:1-14.

The passage tells of Ezekiel, a major prophet of God being in the midst of a valley full of bones when he was asked by God if "these bones can live?"

In response, Ezekiel told God, "O LORD God, You know."

Scripture goes on to tell of God commanding Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones with, miraculously, the bones coming back to life.
7. Which person was asked this question by God: "How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel?"

Answer: Samuel

The question was asked of Samuel, as per 1 Samuel 16:1. Samuel was the last judge of Israel and led the coronation of Saul as the first king of Israel. Saul, however, ended up angering God in a number of ways. As a result, Scripture tells of God commanding Samuel to go to Bethlehem to anoint a new king. The new king would be none other than David, the young shepherd boy who slayed Goliath.
8. Which person was asked this question by God: "Why has this people slidden back, Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding?"

Answer: Jeremiah

Jeremiah, known as the Weeping Prophet, is the correct answer as per Jeremiah 8:5. The question was asked in a passage that runs from Verses 4 to 17. In the passage, God warns Jeremiah about the perils of backsliding and false teaching. The passage contains a number of other questions posed by God.

To put Verse 5 in context, here's how Verses 4-6 reads in the NKJV:
"Will they fall and not rise?
Will one turn away and not return?
Why has this people slidden back,
Jerusalem, in a perpetual backsliding?
They hold fast to deceit,
They refuse to return.
I listened and heard,
But they do not speak aright.
No man repented of his wickedness,
Saying, 'What have I done?'
Everyone turned to his own course,
As the horse rushes into the battle."
9. Which person was asked these questions by God: "Have you an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like His?"

Answer: Job

God asked the two questions of Job, as per Job 40:9. Verse 6 tells of God appearing out of a whirlwind while having a lengthy discussion with Job. In Chapter 41, God asks Job a number of other questions.

Job, of course, is known for his long suffering and patience after suffering through a series of calamities. However, Job refused to point an accusing finger at God.
10. Which person was asked this question by God: "And should I not pity Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred and twenty thousand persons who cannot discern between their right hand and their left - and much livestock?"

Answer: Jonah

God asked the question of Jonah, as per Jonah 4:11. Jonah, of course, was commanded by God to go to Nineveh to preach to the people, but he stubbornly refused to listen. Scripture tells of Jonah being eventually swallowed by a gigantic fish and spending three days in its stomach before being regurgitated on dry land. Eventually, Jonah went to Nineveh and was highly successful in convincing the people about the need to repent.
