Noah, a righteous man in a world filled with wickedness, was chosen by God to ensure the survival of all life forms after the flood. He and his wife, along with their three sons and daughters-in-law, were given the responsibility of building the ark, gathering the animals, and safely securing them before the rains began.

The story of David's defeat of Goliath is told in I Samuel. David is credited with composing most of the book of Psalms.

Psalm 151 is not included in all versions of the Bible but is believed by some to be David's personal account of the battle.

My hands made a harp; my fingers fashioned a lyre.

This beloved passage can be found in Luke, chapter 2. God could have sent the angel to the richest or most powerful men in the world. Instead, He chose a group of humble shepherds to be the first to learn of the birth of Jesus.

Answer: Martha

As documented in the Gospel of Luke, Martha became frustrated with her sister when Mary chose to sit and listen to Jesus's teachings instead of helping with meal preparations. Jesus's response was to remind Martha of the importance of priorities. Small tasks that seem important at the moment will not last: it is our life choices that will matter in the long run.

Matthew 9:9 tells the story of the tax collector who was at work when he was approached by Jesus and invited to join the disciples. Without hesitation, Matthew walked away from his wealthy lifestyle to follow Jesus.

Tax collectors were often loathed and were viewed as corrupt and greedy individuals who couldn't be trusted. In fact, Jesus was questioned by the scribes when he was seen having dinner with Matthew, leading to His familiar response:

Matthew 9:12-13: "On hearing this, Jesus said, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'" (NIV)

Answer: Mary

We can only imagine the panic felt by Mary and Joseph when they realized their son was missing, and their relief at finding him in the temple. The Bible mentions little of Jesus's childhood but this well known story from Luke is proof that even at a young age, He possessed wisdom and understanding that has never been equaled.

Answer: Fisherman

Zebedee was the father of James and John. Both Matthew and Mark tell the story of the brothers who left their dad and his hired men sitting in the boat after they were invited to become disciples of Jesus.

There are many references to the fishing trade throughout the Bible. The occupation required a strong work ethic, patience, willingness to travel, and good communication skills in the marketplace. (It's really no surprise that Jesus chose people from this profession!)

Answer: Moses

After Pharaoh's order that all newborn Hebrew boys be killed, baby Moses was hidden by the river and rescued by none other than Pharaoh's daughter, who subsequently hired the baby's own mother to care for the infant. When Moses became old enough, he was taken back to the princess, who raised him as her own son.

Answer: Deborah

Deborah was not just the only female judge named in the Bible, she was also credited with leading Israel to victory in the battle with Sisera and his Canaanite army.

Answer: Tabitha

Tabitha (also known as Dorcas) was loved by the people of Joppa for her tireless efforts to help the poor. When Tabitha became ill and died, her friends summoned Peter, who, after praying beside the body, commanded her to get up. Through Peter, God restored her life, allowing her to continue her work and creating many believers in the town.

The story of Tabitha's return from death is recorded in the book of Acts, chapter 9, verses 36-42.
