The New York Jets, and Dan and the dolphins went on to win 28-24. The Dolphins were down by 3 points with 30 seconds to go in the game. The Dolphins were on the Jets five yard line and it appeared the Dan Marino was calling to spike the ball and stop the clock so the Dolphins could tie the game with a field goal.

Instead, Marino caught the Jets sleeping, took the snap from center, and fired the ball in the corner of the endzone which was caught by Mark Ingram. Miami went on to win 28-24 with 14 seconds left.

As for the Jets, after that play, for the next 5 years, the Jets won a grand total of only 6 games. The "fake spike" play nearly destroyed the Jets franchise.
