Answer: Didier Agathe

Didier Agathe began his professional career with French club Montpellier, however, he found things hard and was made to move on in 1999. He joined Raith Rovers in the August where he scored seven goals in his first season, which included a hat-trick on his debut.

He moved on to Hibernian but was only offered an original three month contract. He was a revelation but found that Hibernian were to stall on a longer contract. So in 2001, he moved across Scotland from Edinburgh to Glasgow where he signed a three year contract with Celtic.

In his first season, he helped the Glasgow Giants to a league title and in the following year played both Champions League and UEFA Cup football, with the pinnacle a place in the UEFA Cup final of 2003.

2. This player had represented his country in many internationals making his debut way back in 1991. He played in the 1994 World Cup final, took part in the World Cup of 1998 and was on the losing side during the 2000 European Nations Cup final. He played the vast majority of his club football with AC Milan before moving to Athletico Madrid on loan, and then on a full contract with S.S Lazio, but who was he?

Answer: Demetrio Albertini

Albertini spent the early part 1990-91 on loan at Padova in the Serie B, before breaking into the AC Milan line up during 1991-92, and made nigh on 300 appearances for the club. His honours included five Serie A League titles. He made 41 Champions League appearances in which he took part in three succesive Champions League finals between 1993 and 1995, lifting the trophy in 1994. To add, Albertini saw Milan win three Super Cups also. During 2002-03, he played a number of times for Spanish club Athletico Madrid before finally moving on to Rome's Lazio.

3. This player was a Portuguese international regular in the early years of the 2000s. However, he made his name for FC Porto of Portugal before moving on to Deportivo La Coruna in 2002. Sadly his time for the Spanish club had been marred by injury and played very little in his opening season. He scored his first goal for Portugal in 2001 against Angola, but who was he?

Answer: Jorge Andrade

Andrade played for Portugal in the 2002 World Cup making two appearances vs USA and South Korea. His early career was spent at Estrela da Amadora, spending three seasons there, but in July 2000 FC Porto signed him on and two good seasons followed playing in defence as Porto won the Portuguese Cup in 2000-01 and then the Portuguese Super Cup.

He was transferred to Deportivo in 2002 but broke his foot on his debut whilst facing Real Betis. On his return, he injured himself again and played very little in the success of Deportivo over the following two seasons.

4. This Georgian Footballer ended up in Moscow during the 2003-04 campaign after plying his trade in his homeland, Denmark and Russia. He also represented his nation during the 2004 World Cup qualifying campaign, but who was he?

Answer: Mikheil Ashvetia

Ashvetia made his name with Georgian side Dinamo Tbilisi, scoring 78 goals in an amazing 83 matches and helping his team to four consecutive National titles. He also was part of the 1996 and 1997 Georgian FA Cup successes. He then moved on to Alania Vladikavkaz where he spent an unhappy period before moving home to play for Torpedo Kutaisi.

After a good spell, a new challenge arose and he was offered a contract with Danish outfit FC Copenhagen but never really settled. He returned to Alania Vladikavkaz before the call of Russian giants Spartak Moscow saw him sign in 2003.

5. This English International started his career at Arsenal where he enjoyed much success. He played in many of the England matches for 2002 World Cup qualification and the 2004 European qualifiers. Who was he?

Answer: Ashley Cole

Ashley Cole made his International debut in June 2001 against Albania having played just 19 times for his club Arsenal. An integral part of the rebuilding of the Arsenal defence, Cole was regarded by many to be one of England's finest fullbacks. His surging runs were his hallmark and his success at such a young age was an indicator to his excellence. Brought through the youth ranks at Highbury, Cole was one of very few players to cost his club nothing.

6. This Cameroon international started out his European career in 2000 with German club Eintract Frankfurt before he moved on in 2003 to VFB Stuttgart. He was part of the Cameroon Olympic team that won Gold at the 2000 Sydney games. Who was he?

Answer: Serge Branco

Branco was born in Cameroon but started his career in Germany. He helped Frankfurt gain promotion to the Bundesliga Premier in 2001-02 before being told he had no future with the club. He was immediately snapped up by VFB Stuttgart and played an integral part in one of the best defences in European football.

7. This player was born in Rotterdam but chose to represent his father's homeland of Morocco. His career started at Neptunus Rotterdam, an amatuer side before he made the move to Sparta Rotterdam in 1999. In 2002, Sparta were relegated from the Dutch Eredivisie and subsequently had to offload some of their higher paid players in which this player soon found himself at Ajax Amsterdam. In 2003, he was again on the move in a loan deal to NAC Breda. Who was he?

Boukari spent three seasons at Sparta scoring 13 times in 76 appearances. His low point whilst at Sparta was the relegation in 2002. However, Ajax came to the rescue where he failed to really make a mark. He was then sent to NAC Breda on loan although he had a three year contract at Ajax.

This Turkish International was in fact born in Germany, and spent his formative years playing for Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Arminia Bielefeld, before moving to Galatasary in Turkey. He scored at an alarming rate for the Turkish junior sides and was one of Galatasary's best finishers, but who was he?

Munich born, Berkant joined Bayern Munich at eight years old and worked his way through the ranks. He was ultimately unable to break into the team and was sent on loan to Monchengladbach at the beginning of the 1998-99 season, having played just one match for Bayern. He played a handful of matches for Monchengladbach before being ordered back to Munich, but was loaned out once more to Arminia Bielefeld. In 2000, he moved to Turkey and signed for Galatasary
where he became a regular in their championship winning team of 01-02 season.

9. This London born player made his name playing for Manchester United where he won numerous League titles and major honours. However, his fame seemed to take over his life, and his time at Manchester United ended in a sad manner. However, he moved on to Real Madrid where he became an overnight success. This player represented his country in the 1998 and 2002 World Cup finals and the 2002 European finals. He led his country to Euro 2004 qualification. Who was he?

Answer: David Beckham

There is so much to write on this player that it would take all my time, so to summise Beckham is to say that perhaps, he was one of his generations finest talents. Famous for scoring long range goals, free kicks and his marriage to pop singer Victoria 'Posh Spice', Beckham's name preceded him way above his football world.

10. This player made his International debut for Belarus vs Ukraine in 1992 and became one of Europe's finest players. He began his career in his homeland with Dinamo Minsk before becoming one of the few players to take part in the all-conquering Dynamo Kiev side of the late 1990s early 2000s. Capped well over forty times, this striker was one to be feared, but who was he?

Answer: Valentin Belkevich

Belkevich started out with Dinamo Minsk, in which he made his debut in the last USSR Championship held in 1991. After winning five further Belarussian league titles, he moved to Dynamo Kiev in 1996. He became an integral part of the six consecutive titles won between 1996 and 2001. In 2003, Belkevich was voted player of the year in Ukraine as he helped Dynamo regain the league title.
One of Kiev's finest he played alongside the Shevchenko/Rebrov dominated forward line of the 1996-98 period.
