One of the "Boys of Summer," Duke Snider was a Dodger hero in Brooklyn, and moved with the team to his native southern California when they became the Los Angeles Dodgers. After a long and illustrious career in Dodger blue, he finished with brief stints as a New York Met and a San Francisco Giant. Edwin "Duke" Snider was elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame in 1980.

Denton True "Cy" Young was so iconic a pitcher, that baseball named its annual award for best pitcher after him. The nickname "Cy" comes from "Cyclone." Born in Ohio, he started and ended his career with Cleveland, having stints at St. Louis and Boston in between. Retiring in 1911, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame aat its second induction class in 1937.
