1. The Atlanta Hawks franchise joined the NBA in 1950. What was their franchise name in 1950?

Answer: Tri-Cities Blackhawks

Their first season in 1950-51 saw them as the Blackhawks. The following season, the team moved and became the Milwaukee Hawks until 1956. They then were the St. Louis Hawks where they won the franchise's first NBA Finals in the 1957-58 season. The franchise moved to Atlanta in 1969.
2. Who was the first NBA player to win five season MVP awards?

Answer: Bill Russell

The MVP Award began in the 1955-56 season. By the time that Russell of the Celtics won his fifth MVP in 1965, basketball great Wilt Chamberlain had won it only once.
3. The Boston Celtics won the NBA Championship for the 2007-08 season. Who did they defeat?

Answer: Lakers

The Celtics won their 17th NBA Championship four games to two. Paul Pierce was the MVP of the finals.
4. Who was the first-ever number one overall draft pick in NBA history in 1950?

Answer: Chuck Share

Share was drafted by the Boston Celtics, but never played a game for them. He played for Fort Wayne in the 1951-52 season, then the Hawks in 1954. After the Hawks, Chuck was a one-season Minneapolis Laker and retired in 1960. He averaged 8.3 points and 8.4 rebounds in his career.

Kareem was born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. in 1947. After attending UCLA, he joined the Milwaukee Bucks in 1969 and played with them for six seasons. His other 14 seasons were with the Lakers. He won a season MVP six times, and retired in 1989 with the most points scored in NBA history with 38,387. On May 1, 1971, Alcindor changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kareem was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1995.
6. The first Coach of the Year Award was presented for the 1962-63 season. Which coach won the award?

Answer: Harry Gallatin

Gallatin was a rookie coach with the St. Louis Hawks in the season. The team went 48-32, good enough for a Western Division second place finish behind the Lakers. Gallatin would later take the helm of the Knicks for two seasons. He retired after only four seasons in 1966 with a 136-120 career record.
7. Which team won the first-ever NBA Championship in 1950?

After winning the BAA Championship in 1949 against the Washington Capitols, the Minneapolis Lakers didn't stop. They won the first NBA Championship in 1950 over the Syracuse Nationals, then won another three in the next four seasons.

Answer: Bobby Jones

At 31 years old, Bobby averaged just over 23-1/2 minutes per game in the season. While averaging nine points per game, he also averaged 4.6 rebounds. The 76ers went on to win the Atlantic Division in that season with Moses Malone leading the team with a 24.5 point average. They won the NBA Finals over the Lakers, four games to none.

Kareem set a NBA record for appearing in 19 while playing for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.

The others were excellent free throw shooters. Chamberlain set an NBA record for being the first player in history to miss 5000 free throws. Wilt played for 14 seasons from 1959 to 1973. Of 11,862 free throw attempts, he missed 5805. His career free throw percentage was a pathetic .511.

He consistently used his under-waist scooping style. He died in 1999, 20 years after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
