During the Great Depression, the Ottawa Senators had a great deal of financial problems and keeping the team afloat was becoming increasingly difficult. The team left Ottawa in 1934 and moved to St. Louis, becoming the Eagles. Things would not improve for the Eagles, and the team folded after only one season. Before the league expanded in 1967, the city of Pittsburgh was awarded a team in 1925 and named them the Pirates.

The Pirates would play in the Steel City until 1930, when it moved to Philadelphia and became the Quakers for just one season.

They also shut their doors after the season.
