DeJean was released by the Mets following a rough 2004 season that began with Baltimore, and a 2005 ERA of 6.31 and 18 earned runs in 29 games played.

Answer: Chris Woodward

Pedro was the big offseason pickup by GM Omar Minaya. Mientkiewicz was picked up by the Mets, after Carlos Delgado chose Florida over New York, and Brian Daubach was picked up as a backup to Mientkiewicz. Woodward came from Toronto.
