Tip O'Neill was a pioneer for Canadian Baseball. He is from Woodstock, Ontario, and died in Montreal, Quebec. Tip O'Neill hit .435 in 1887 as an Outfieder for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1887, he had a career year leading the league in Slugging Percentage, On Base Percentage, OPS, Batting Average, Runs, Hits, Total Bases, Doubles, Triples, Home Runs, RBI, Extra Base Hits, and coming in second in Times on Base.

In the previous year, he had led the league in RBIs, and in 1888, he led the league in Batting Average and Hits.
