1. Wooo, Pig, Sooie. By what name does the mascot of the University of Arkansas go by?

Answer: Big Red

The team adopted the name "Razorbacks" in 1910 after being named the Cardinals previously. The mascot, Big Red, made his first appearance in 1960 as a live hog. A costumed version is used today. Arkansas' Big Red is sometimes seen in the company of a female counterpart, Sue E. and a juvenile version, Pork Chop.

They also use an inflatable version named Boss Hog and a live variety of razorback named "Tusk."

University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) uses the "Rebels" as their mascots. Many have suggested that the name and the appearance of the mascot is too reminiscent of the Civil War era and needs to be changed. An effort was made to select a new mascot, but no one turned out to vote, so the idea was scrapped. Colonel Rebel has not been allowed to make an official appearance at an Ole Miss sporting event since 2003. South Carolina uses the Fighting Gamecocks as a mascot and has been under pressure from various animal rights groups to change this.

The live rooster that appears on the sidelines has never fought. The costumed mascot, Cocky, is known for his mysterious entrance at football games and is too fun-loving to be considered much of a threat. No efforts have been made by the school to make a change.

After the demise of the original "Bully", a funeral procession was held, complete with a glass coffin for viewing the deceased loved one. He was buried under the 50-yard line in the stadium. Since that time, MSU has carried on the tradition of naming an English bulldog its mascot.

The costumed version of Smokey also makes appearances at UT functions, including all sporting events.
