Answer: Olga Mostepanova

Mostepanova would have been eligible to compete in the 1984 games, but she did not get the opportunity due to the Soviet boycott. Shushunova won in 1988, Davydova won in 1980, and Gutsu won in 1992.
2. Which two promising young gymnasts tied for the gold medal at the 1985 World Gymnastics Championships?

Answer: Oksana Omelianchik and Elena Shushunova

This was the first tie for the AA title in history. Omelianchik and Shushunova shared the gold medal. Dagmar Kersten took the bronze.
