Answer: Jimmy Dykes

Mack not only had the Athletics for 50 seasons, but he also managed the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1896-1898. Dykes came in with some big shoes to fill in 1951. While improving the Athletics with 18 more wins than 1950, the Athletics still finished in sixth place in the season. Dykes was in his 14th managerial season in 1951, after a five-year layoff of managing the White Sox for 13 seasons. Jimmy lasted only three season in Philadelphia, finishing no better than fourth place.

Answer: Cleveland Indians

After retiring as a player in 1927, the Senators signed him to a managing contract in 1929. Walter lasted four seasons with the Senators, then took over the Indians in 1933 as the third manager of that season. He opened the 1935 season with a 46-48 record, then was fired and replaced with Steve O'Neill. That was it for Johnson's managing career.

Answer: Detroit Tigers

Anderson, nicknamed 'Captain Hook', began his career with the Cincinnati Reds in 1970, which later became known as the 'Big Red Machine', winning consecutive World Series in 1975 and 1976. The Manager of the Year Award did not begin until 1983. While none of the other teams existed in 1983, Sparky's first award came with the Tigers in 1984 with the Tigers, topping off a World Series crown season.

He won it again in 1987 for his first place Tiger finish in the AL East, but lost to the Twins in the ALCS. Sparky died in 2010.

Answer: Clark Griffith

Griffith had the reins of the White Sox in 1901 and 1902, then came over to New York. Clark had the Highlanders for six seasons, finishing no better than second place, before taking over the Cincinnati Reds in 1909. He retired after managing the Senators for nine seasons in 1920.

In 1903, McGraw took over the New York Giants, and Robinson would not manage again until he took the helm of Brooklyn from 1914-1931.

Answer: Pat Moran

Moran was in his first managerial season in 1915 when he took the Phillies to their first World Series. The Phillies lost the World Series to the Red Sox, four games to one. He left the Phillies after the 1918 season, then found himself as World Series Champions with the Reds in 1919, the series known as the Black Sox Scandal. Eddie Sawyer took the Phillies to their second appearance in 1950, losing to the Yankees. Green found the franchise's first World Series title in 1980, then Corrales would lose in the big game in 1983.

Answer: San Diego Padres

Bud began managing in 2007. His 2010 season was his fourth with the Padres. He won the award over Dusty Baker of the Reds. Prior to managing, Bud played for 15 seasons from 1981-1995, but never for the Padres.

Answer: Seattle Mariners

After playing in 18 seasons, Lou took over the Yankees in his first managing job in 1986. He had the team for three seasons before taking over the Reds for three seasons. In 1993, he became manager of the Mariners, and would wait until 1995 before winning the Manager of the Year Award.

In 2001, he won his second with the Mariners after they won 116 games in the season. Lou won a third award with the Cubs in 2008.

Answer: Dick McBride

McBride was player/manager with the 1871 Philadelphia Athletics. The Athletics won the league pennant with a 21-7 record. McBride went 18-5 in the season as their pitcher, and started 25 of their 28 games. The Boston Red Stockings under the helm of Harry Wright, would win the remaining four league championships before the league folded, giving way to the new National League in 1876.

Answer: Jack O'Connor

In 1910, manager Jack O'Connor of the St. Louis Browns along with coach Harry Howell were banned for life. They were caught fixing the American League batting title by allowing Nap Lajoie to win the batting crown over Ty Cobb. Cobb of the Tigers, wanting to win a new car for winning the crown, had a .004 point lead going into the final game of the season.

He sat out the final game to cinch the award. However, O'Connor of the Browns disliked Cobb, and when the Browns played the Cleveland Naps on the final day of the season, he had third baseman Roy Hartzell play very deep every time Nap Lajoie came to bat. Lajoie had eight hits, mostly bunts, on the final day of the season to win the batting crown and the new car.

Answer: John McGraw

McGraw managed the 1899 NL Baltimore Orioles, then the AL Baltimore Orioles (later Yankees) in 1901 and 1902. He moved to New York and became the manager of the New York Giants in 1903. He took the Giants to 10 National League pennants before retiring in 1932. He was inducted into the hall in 1937 along with another managing great, Connie Mack. Anson was inducted in 1939.
