Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. John Stockton helped his team to a NBA Championship in 1998.

Answer: False

John Stockton, who played for no team other than the Utah Jazz, had never won an NBA title, despite making it to the finals two straight years (1997-1998) alongside Karl Malone. They had the league's best record in 1998, and some have said that that was the team's best year. Apparently, a guy named Michael Jordan who played for the Chicago Bulls, beat them on both the two years the Jazz had reached the finals.
2. In what year was Kevin Garnett drafted?

Answer: 1995

KG was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 1995 with the fifth pick in the first round. When he was drafted, it was the first time in more than 20 years that a player was drafted out of high school. KG didn't disappoint as eight years later, he was named NBA MVP (in 2003-04).
3. Who was the first eighth-seed team to make it to the NBA Finals?

Answer: New York Knicks

The lockout-shortened season of 1999 was a memorable one for New York Knicks fans. It was the year a guy named Allan Houston hit the game winning and series clinching shot in game 5 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals against rivals Miami Heat. Also in that run, Larry Johnson once hit a three-pointer, drew a foul, and sank the free-throw that eventually delivered the Knicks past Reggie Miller (once nicknamed "Knick-killer") and the Indiana Pacers. Led by Latrell Sprewell, Allan Houston, Larry Johnson, and Marcus Camby, a very emotional Knicks team was further motivated by an injury-sidelined team captain, Patrick Ewing, who has long been searching for a championship ring to cap a glorious career in NYC.

The Knicks went as far as Game 5 of the NBA Finals, eventually faltering to the San Antonio Spurs, lead by twin towers David Robinson and then rookie Tim Duncan.
4. Allen Iverson signed a lifetime contract to shoe and apparel company Reebok. The first shoe model designed for him was called what?

Answer: The Question

"The Question" would later come in re-issues of different colors and low-cut editions because of the shoe's popularity.
5. Who was the Toronto Raptors' first ever first-round draft pick?

Answer: Damon Stoudamire

The Raptors joined the league as an expansion team in 1995 and drafted Damon Stoudamire from Arizona. Damon eventually won Rookie of the Year honors.
6. The Washington Bullets drafted Ben Wallace.

Answer: False

Undrafted Ben Wallace was signed as a rookie free agent by the Washington Bullets on October 2, 1996. Eight years later, he led the Detroit Pistons to their first NBA Championship since 1990.
7. What college did Andrew Bogut play for?

Answer: Utah

The Milwaukee Bucks used its first pick in the first round of the 2005 NBA Draft on Andrew Bogut from Utah.
8. Boris Diaw was drafted by what team?

Answer: Atlanta Hawks

In 2006, Boris was a Phoenix Sun.
9. With which team did Charles Barkley win a NBA championship?

Answer: None

Despite a celebrated career, 1994 season MVP honors and a trip to the finals in the same year, Sir Charles never won a NBA title. He won two Olympic gold medals, one in Barcelona (1992) and one in Atlanta (1996).
10. Which player did the Golden State Warriors draft in the first round in 1998?

Answer: Vince Carter

Golden State drafted Vince Carter with the fifth overall pick in 1998. Toronto drafted Antawn Jamison fourth. The two former North Carolina teammates were then traded for each other right after being drafted.
