Answer: Brooklyn

They were the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1911 and 1912, then from 1932 to the 1957 season. Before being named the Dodgers, they were the Brooklyn Robins in 1931.
2. What manager transitioned the team from Brooklyn to Los Angeles?

Answer: Walter Alston

The great Walter Alston managed the Dodgers from 1954-1976. Although finishing in 7th place in the National League after the move in 1958, he carried the Dodgers in 1959 to a World Series, by defeating the Chicago White Sox 4 games to 2. Alston compiled 2,040 wins for the Dodgers in their history. Few know that 'Smokey' as he was nicknamed, played in one Major League game in his career, with the St.Louis Cardinals in 1936.

The Dodgers beat the Chicago White Sox 4 games to 2. After losing game one 11-0, the Dodgers bounced back behind the pitching of Johnny Podres, Don Drysdale, and Larry Sherry, to win their first Series in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers were 102-63 in the infamous 1962 season. They tied the season standings with the San Francisco Giants, and two went to the playoffs, in which the Giants won. The playoffs had much controversy, because the infield had been wet down tremendously in San Francisco, trying to slow down the Dodger speedster Maury Wills.

The Dodgers had filed numerous complaints with the league before and after the loss, but it was to no avail.

Answer: Don Drysdale

1962 saw the great Don Drysdale go 25-9 in the season, which earned him the Cy Young Award. It would be his greatest year in baseball. Sandy Koufax matched that the following year by winning 25 games. In 1965, Koufax went 26-8, and then Koufax went a blistering 27-9 in his last season of baseball in 1966.

Piazza hit .362 in 1997. He also hit 40 home runs and smacked 201 hits. He was runner-up to the National League MVP.

Although all these players hit over .300 in a season, 'The Duke' was the first, and the only Dodger to hit over .300 in 1958, after the move from New York. Snider hit .312 that season, with Carl Furillo being the team's runner-up by hitting .290. Wally Moon hit .302 in 1959, Larker hit .323 in 1960, and Herman Thomas "Tommy" Davis Jr., won two consecutive batting titles by hitting .346 in 1962, and .326 in 1963.
