Answer: Norm

Norm was an accountant but was often out of work. Part of why he couldn't hold a job was because he was always skipping out on work to go to Cheers.

Answer: "Eleven"

Sam was mimicking Walter and counted the letters in Diane's sentence. Diane was not amused by this.
4. Who did Sam think his date was?

Sam believed that Diane had the hots for him and wanted to set herself up on a date with him. This was one of the first times we got a hint that there was some sort of spark between Sam and Diane.

Answer: Gretchen

Gretchen was played by Gretchen Corbett. She was on "Rockford Files" for the first four years.

Sam thought Diane wanted to go out with him herself so he never got a date for Diane. When he found out Gretchen was his date, he went to the pool room to find a date for Diane.

Answer: Andy

Andy was played by Derek McGrath. Sam paid Andy $20 to go out with Diane because he didn't have a date for her.

Answer: manslaughter

Sam didn't know that Andy was a murderer when he hired him to date Diane. Andy said he killed a waitress.

Andy did ten years in prison and was slightly insane. When the four of them were sitting at Cheers, Andy asked them, "Did you ever dream your hands were claws?"

He admitted it only to get her to admit it but he did admit it. This caused the rest of the Cheers regulars to discuss whether Sam carried a torch for Diane or Diane carried a torch for Sam.
