The season four finale concluded with a flash forward of Locke's body in a coffin and it was in this episode where we saw Jack right beside the coffin. Jack sat down and then Ben entered the room and told Jack to get the coffin out into the van outside. Jack asked Ben where they were taking Locke so Ben informed him they would worry about where to take Locke's body once they picked up Hurley.

When Jack heard Ben say they were going to pick up Hurley, he mentioned to Ben that they could not pick Hurley up since he was in a mental institution. Ben insisted that was okay since it would make recruiting Hurley easier than it would in recruiting any of his other friends in helping them with Locke's body. In a scene on the island, Ben pushed a lever which caused a huge stream of light to go across the island. Once the light stopped, many people and things instantly disappeared. At this time, Sawyer and Juliet were down by the beach and he noticed a freighter was gone. He asked Juliet where it was so she told him it might have gone down into the water.

There was a flash-forward scene where Kate was taking care of Aaron while he watched cartoons. She heard the doorbell go off so she went to see who it was. There were two men at the door, one of whom introduced himself as Dan Norton with the law firm Agostini & Norton. Mr. Norton told Kate they were there to get a blood sample from her and from Aaron and they had a court order to get it. Kate told them to get off her property so Mr. Norton informed her he and his associate would have to come back with a Sheriff to get her to comply. Kate told them to do that and then slammed the door in their faces.

With Ben's pushing the lever, the members of the island began to jump through time and it was in one scene when Locke was shot by Ethan. In a later scene, Locke saw Richard and it was there that Richard treated his gunshot wound. Since they were time traveling, Richard informed Locke that their next meeting would be during a time when they did not know each other.

In one flash forward scene, midway through the episode, Sun was seen at Heathrow Airport in London getting ready to board a flight to Los Angeles. While at the airport, she is seen by Charles Widmore, a former member of The Others, and he takes her into a private room to talk. They both discuss how they want to kill Ben Linus.

It was in this episode that Sayid helped Hurley break out of the mental hospital where he was a patient and they hid in a safehouse. It was at the safehouse where two armed men confronted them but Hurley and Sayid managed to fight them off together. However, Sayid was drugged by one of the men so Hurley tended to him.

It was while he did that he told Sayid they should have never left the island.
