The penthouse was 40 floors from where they were so the kid was not happy. He went and got the security guard to tell him that Sam kicked him off the elevator.

The water break was in the newspaper so she knew Sam never met Jean-Marie. To get back at him she tied him in the elevator and left him there with his pants off and his shirt undone.
