The upshot of Eddie and Patsy's attempts is that Saffy begins to play with a box of cigarettes desperately craving one but trying so hard to resist. Saffy's father remarks that all daughters eventually turn into their mothers which is enough for her to throw the box in disgust.

The conversation eventually drifts to people's recollections about their births and childhoods hence the title of the episode and it's revealed in the final scene that Eddie tried to have Saffy put up for adoption so she could go to a party but the baby kept staring at her so she kept it.
