3. Woken up early with the maid bringing breakfast during a stay in a hotel, Adam's kimono was not securely tied, and after an exchange of innocent innuendo, covered his embarrassment with a flag snatched up from a pile of props. Question 4 of 10

Question 5 of 10
5. Jonathan devised a trick where, instead of cutting a woman in half, Adam would dissect a ventriloquist dummy. He specifically asked the craftsman for the doll with spare feet, and they ended up taking delivery of a twelve-foot mannequin. With very little time to make a new, smaller, doll, Mr Houseman gave Jonathan one which had been used only once before, but unfortunately when Adam performed the trick on the first night, the man after whom the dummy had been modelled was in the audience - and he was a bigwig in the entertainment industry! Can you remember which one of the Series 4 episodes this was? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. One of my favourite extra characters is Kitty, Adam's sister. Visiting her brother, and foisted on Jonathan as Adam was entertaining, she witnessed a man strangling a woman in an isolated cottage and brought Jonathan and Maddie to the scene. She never once called him Adam - by what name did Kitty call her brother? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Being shortlisted for 'Male Illusionist of the Year', Adam is determined to find out who has won this award to prepare himself for the award ceremony itself. When he finds out who has won it, he absents himself from the event, not knowing that he is due to receive a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' instead (in spite of the fact that Jonathan told Maddie in the strictest confidence, sure she would spill the beans!) Which of the following female impersonators was to win the 'Male Illusionist of the Year award? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Unable to commit himself to any one woman, Adam returns from a trip to Japan with his latest girlfriend, leaves her in the taxi and goes immediately into a florist to buy her flowers. Barely half a minute later he is swooning all over the assistant there, and starts a new relationship! Later in the same episode we see him fleeing from her bedroom after seeing - what? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Velda won a date with Adam - second prize (the first prize was a tumble dryer) - and he took her to a pub. He had intended to take her to a posh restaurant, but changed his mind when he saw her. When Jonathan met them there, he mentioned another venue, to which Adam was then compelled to take his date. Where was this? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. In the very first episode Jonathan and Maddie meet because another character, Francesca, met Jonathan at the theatre where Adam chose her from the audience to help with one of his illusions. What was that illusion? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Adam's latest love interest in 'Black Canary' was, according to Adam, totally innocent and untouched. By the end of the episode, however, we learn that Elsa may have been so, but was also something else. What was she?

Answer: a Nazi

Adam was horrified when he saw a small swastika attached to a ring which was attached to her body (we don't discover which part but it is obvious that it is a part usually hidden from view). As our favourite magician is lying in a hospital bed as he tells this tale, we can only assume that Elsa reacted violently to Adam's reaction to the discovery!
2. What happened when Adam Klaus was locked in a coffin while in a straight-jacket, and buried in the local park?

Answer: an elderly lady attacked Jonathan and the rest of the team

This was the episode 'The Scented Room', when Jonathan and Maddie discovered the whereabouts of a painting which disappeared from a tiny locked room in the space of thirty seconds. Adam was incarcerated in a coffin (but not buried) for an endurance event in 'The Chequered Box' and in that episode he has to end his challenge early as he is accused of looking up women's skirts.
3. Woken up early with the maid bringing breakfast during a stay in a hotel, Adam's kimono was not securely tied, and after an exchange of innocent innuendo, covered his embarrassment with a flag snatched up from a pile of props. The maid reported him to the police and Adam ended up in the dock on charges of sexual harassment. Just for the fun of it - do you remember which flag he used to cover himself?

Answer: the Union Jack

Griff Rhys-Jones played the prosecuting QC in this episode and brought his skill to the part to produce very dry, and very funny, court scenes.

The 'Union Jack', technically, is only called a 'jack' when it flies from a ship, but this term has come to mean the flag itself, even though it is really the 'Union flag'. As 'Union Jack' is a term better known, I decided to use it rather than 'Union flag'.
4. What animal was sadly trapped when the mechanism under the stage of the theatre jammed during rehearsals in the episode 'The Reconstituted Corpse'?

Answer: elephant

We don't actually see anything here, but hear of the tragedy as the episode goes on. At the close of the programme we see Jonathan and Maddie return to her home from the elephant's funeral. The keeper was very understanding, saying that she had lived a good long life and that she was a star, and would have preferred to go working in a theatre rather than anywhere else. No animals were hurt during the filming of this episode!

Answer: Angel Hair

The doll played a part in the whodunnit story itself, as the craftsman, Mr Houseman, was the father of the man who came to Jonathan for help.

Answer: Chester

Kitty appeared in the double episode 'The Problem at Gallows Gate'. Although exasperated by her calling him Chester, and by her very presence, Adam appeared to be fond of her in his own shallow way. But the experience out at Gallows Gate affected her quite badly and she turned to her brother for comfort.

This experience was to affect poor Adam to such an extent that he begged the police to let her return home and out of his sphere!

Answer: Deborah Cadabra

We don't actually see Deborah Cadabra, we see Adam telephoning the other nominees and pretending to congratulate them in order to find out who won by their reaction. The last scene of this episode is of Adam singing the blues in a pub of drunken and uncaring punters.

Answer: false teeth soaking in a jar

In this same episode a journalist is invited to see a rehearsal - Adam's attempt to disprove bad reviews - and she turns up to berate the magician in front of everyone. She guessed Adam's motives for leaving and announced that the teeth belonged to her grandmother who had gone into hospital.

When Adam tried to defend himself to the journalist, he learnt that the kimono he had been given by the woman he went to Japan with had an unsavoury comment on his personality written on it in Japanese!

Answer: a nightclub

Jonathan mentioned Stringfellows, perhaps the most famous nightclub in Britain. The next day Adam tells Jonathan what happened. Velda took delight showing off her tattoo of Mr Bean, and when she was introduced to Brian Ferry she behaved badly. Turning green, she dashes for the Ladies, and he is told ten minutes later that she was sick, and choked to death.

Not the most successful of dates.
10. In the very first episode Jonathan and Maddie meet because another character, Francesca, met Jonathan at the theatre where Adam chose her from the audience to help with one of his illusions. What was that illusion?

Answer: a parody of the shower scene from 'Psycho'

Francesca was later to be employed as Adam's assistant, and then she took part in the trick involving the sarcophagus (Egyptian tomb) and miles of bandages! When she first went on stage with Adam it was to enter a shower and end up under the stage where she met Jonathan.

Adam was played by Stuart Milligan from Series 2 onwards, but by Anthony Head in the first episode (the character was not seen in any other Series 1 episodes).
