Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We know back in the sixties the television censors were very strict about a woman showing too much skin. During the run of "I Dream of Jeannie" they revealed Barbara Eden's navel at least once.

Answer: True

Jeanie exposed her navel in the very first episode, to the chagrin of the TV censors who made Barbara Eden wear a scarf to hide it. Also, in episodes 100 and 139 if you look closely, you can catch a quick glimpse of her famous belly button.
2. Larry Hagman played Major Anthony Nelson, Jeannie's astronaut master. Who was Hagman's real life musical mother?

Answer: Mary Martin

Mary Martin was the queen of Broadway for many years starring in "South Pacific", "Peter Pan", and "The Sound of Music". According to A&E's "Biography" Martin and Hagman were quite distant, but became close in Martin's later years.
3. Who played Roger Healy, Tony Nelson's goofy, and sometimes greedy best friend?

Answer: Bill Daily

Daily played a similar character named Howard Bordon on "The Bob Newhart Show". Rorke played the suspicious Dr. Bellows, Storch played Corporal Agorn on "F-Troop", and Van Dyke was Luther Van Damne on "Coach".
4. In a handful of episodes, Jeannie has a little dog named Djinn-Djinn who turns invisible and viciously attacks people. What do we later find out that Djinn-Djinn hates, making him act so violent?

Answer: Uniforms

The dog rips three of the General's best uniforms to shreds.
5. In one episode a man from the I.R.S, Harry Huggins, just happens to show up at Major Nelson's house after Jeannie decides to decorate the home with such artistic classics as a Ming vase and a Michelangelo statue. This is just another brilliant and hilarious performance as Huggins by what flamboyant performer?

Answer: Paul Lynde

Of course Lynde was no stranger to shows about magic and witchcraft. In addition to his portrayal as the practical joking Uncle Arthur in ten episodes of "Bewitched", Lynde also did three "I Dream of Jeannie" shows. Along with playing Harry Huggins, he also appeared as a Hollywood director who wants to make Major Nelson a star, and as a pitbull physical fitness instructor who runs Nelson and Healy into the ground.
6. Do Jeannie and Major Nelson ever get married?

Answer: Yes

In season five, Jeannie and Tony tied the knot on an episode that aired on December 2, 1969. A terrible idea for this show and for Max and 99 in "Get Smart" I think in both cases it was a ploy to enhance sagging ratings.
7. "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched" are very similar in many ways. Both have beautiful leading ladies with supernatural powers. Also, both shows feature a character who sees bizarre things happen but can never prove them: In "Jeannie" it's Dr. Bellows, in "Bewitched" the foil is Gladys Kravitz. What other characteristic did both shows share?

Answer: Both leading characters had a meddling, identical relative

Jeannie's identical sister, also named Jeannie, was always plotting to steal Major Nelson away from her. Meanwhile, on "Bewitched", Samantha had her hands full every time her mod and troublesome cousin Serena stopped by.
8. Who played Amanda Bellows, the always curious wife of Dr. Alfred Bellows?

Answer: Emmaline Henry

After "Jeanie" Ms. Henry went on to guest star on numerous shows including "The Bob Newhart Show" and "Three's Company".
9. What '70s sex symbol played Major Healy's girlfriend on five episodes?

Answer: Farrah Fawcett

Before Farrah became an Angel she played Roger's beau, Tina.
10. In one show, the cast goes to Hollywood and runs into cast members from what other 60s comedy?

Answer: Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In

Guest stars who appeared from "Laugh-In" included Gary Owens, Arte Johnson, and Judy Carne.
