Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the season opens, we find out that Robert California was originally offered the regional manager position, but this was then given to Andy. Why?

Answer: Robert got a big promotion

Robert turned up for his first day as regional manager, and impulsively decided to drive down to Florida to see his CEO, Jo. He then somehow managed to convince Jo to install him as the new CEO instead of her! Andy is delighted at the twist of fate that now has him running the office.
2. Who wins a major lottery prize in the episode "Lotto"?

Answer: A group of workers from the warehouse

Six warehouse workers win a share of $950,000 and immediately quit, leaving Darryl with the job of replacing them. He is also upset because he used to play with the group, but stopped because he got promoted. To make matters worse, his birthday dates were part of the winning numbers.
3. Pam becomes visibly frustrated when she finds out Jim is open to the idea that ghosts may exist.

Answer: False

In fact it's the other way around. Pam, when working at a pub, swears she saw a ghost and hasn't ruled out the fact they may exist. Jim is perplexed that he didn't know this about her, and they argue about it.
4. What song does Andy sing to indicate that it's time for everyone to go home?

Answer: "Closing Time"

This tradition, which Andy has apparently done from day 1 as regional manager, sparks a number of different reactions. Erin loves it, as does Stanley (as it means home time). Pam tries to sing along but still doesn't know the words.
5. Pam and Dwight spend much of the episode called "Pam's replacement" trying to get Jim to admit he is attracted to Cathy, the woman who will be filling in for Pam on maternity leave. Does he finally admit to Pam that he is attracted to Cathy?

Answer: No

Despite admitting to the cameras that he is attracted to her, Jim decides it is not a good move to admit it to his heavily pregnant wife. Dwight even tries a home-made lie detector, which ends up showing Jim has high blood pressure, which concerns Pam and she forgets about the whole Cathy issue.
6. Where does Andy take most of the office staff on a field trip, in an attempt to inspire them?

Answer: Gettysburg

Some of the staff refuse to go, and this seems to be to their benefit as CEO Robert arrives and tells those who stayed behind that they are the independent ones. At Gettysburg, Gabe gets mistaken for the Abraham Lincoln actor, but he plays along, performing for a crowd and enjoying it.
7. One of Robert's family members comes to the office in the hope of getting a job. Who is it?

Answer: His wife

Robert runs into the office just before his wife, Susan, warning Andy not to give her a job under any circumstances. However, he sends mixed messages by later claiming he wants her to work there.
8. What does Andy threaten to do if Jim and Dwight don't stop pranking each other?

Answer: Take away their Christmas bonuses

This backfires of course, leaving Jim and Dwight trying to frame each other for different pranks. Dwight brings in a porcupine and tries to make it look like Jim planted it in Dwight's desk; while Jim reads out his credit card information loudly hoping Dwight does something mean with the information (but he ends up buying flowers for Pam).
9. When Andy hatches a plot to win a trivia contest so that he can buy some paper (and meet his sales target), three teams go along. Do any of them win?

Answer: Yes

There are 3 teams: "Dunder Mifflin A", "Dunder Mifflin B" and the "Just for fun" team. Surprisingly, the "Just for fun" team, consisting of Kevin, Kelly, Erin and Meredith, end up taking the victory with a tie-breaker win over Oscar's team.
10. Who hosts a pool party and invites all the office staff?

Answer: Robert

Robert has decided to sell his mansion, indoor pool included, as he is about to get divorced (we find out not for the first time). The party ends up being a success, especially after he hands out expensive wine from his cellar to several of the guests.
