Answer: Joan Collins

Joan Collins was not the first choice to play the part of Alexis. Screen legend Sophia Loren was one of several actresses considered for the role. The character came alive once Joan walked on the set for the first time in episode one of season two.

Originally, actor George Peppard (of TV's "A-Team") was given the role of Blake. But George had difficulties with the writers, so he left during the filming of the pilot and the part was offered to Mr. Forsythe. John was filming the last season of "Charlie's Angels" as the voice of Charlie Townsend when he was asked to take the role of Blake.

Answer: Linda Evans

Angie Dickinson was first choice to play the role, but refused to take it. Linda Evans, who was born Linda Evenstad, left "Dynasty" in the ninth (and final) season. To explain Linda's departure, Krystle was given a brain tumor and sent to Switzerland for surgery. Unfortunately, she was left in a coma. The character resurfaced in time for the 1991 "Dynasty" reunion movie.

Fallon Carrington was forever the true love of Jeff's life. He became a close confidant and the "unofficial" adopted son to Blake Carrington. Many years later, John James went on to play another character named Jeff. In 2006, he took the part of Dr. Jeff Martin in daytime's soap opera, "All My Children."

Answer: Emma Samms

After Pamela Sue Martin's 1984 departure, Emma Samms took over the role in 1985. Ms. Samms was a cast member on the daytime drama "General Hospital" when she was offered the part of Fallon.

Answer: Gordon Thomson

Robin Sachs took over the part for the 1991 "Dynasty" reunion movie when Mr. Thomson could not reprise the role. Adam first arrived to the show at the start of the third season. No one knew, except for Blake and Alexis, that Adam existed. It was not until Jeff and Fallon's son was kidnapped, that everyone learned Adam Carrington (the first child born to Blake and Alexis), was also kidnapped 25 years earlier. Adam grew up in Billings, Montana thinking he was Michael Torrance. He soon arrived in Denver to claim his heritage and wreak havoc.

Answer: Diahann Carroll

The multi-talented Diahann Carroll was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of "Claudine." She also won a Tony Award and Golden Globe. Dominique arrived in Denver during the fourth season of "Dynasty." Her true identity was a mystery until she claimed to be the illegitimate daughter of Tom Carrington and half-sister of Blake.

She was finally recognized as the illegitimate daughter of Tom Carrington upon his deathbed.

Answer: Al Corley

Al Corley played the part from 1981-1982, and then reprised the role for the 1991 "Dynasty" reunion movie. Jack Coleman was the second actor to play the role from 1983-1988. Steven was the second born son of Blake and Alexis. Even though he was an openly gay character (a first at that time for a TV drama), he dated and married several women throughout the series' run. Al quit the series due to his unhappiness with the writing for his character. When Jack took over the role, it was explained that Steven Carrington was hurt in an oil-rig explosion and needed extensive facial surgeries.

Answer: Rock Hudson

The character was a rich and powerful businessman who had his "romantic eyes" set on Krystle Carrington. Unfortunately, due to his deteriorating health, Rock Hudson left "Dynasty" and passed away of AIDS later that year, in the Fall of 1985.

Answer: Oil

Richard and Esther Shapiro created the show and originally named it "Oil." But the producer of the show was unhappy with the title, so it was changed to "Dynasty" before the show hit primetime television. The show centered around a rich and powerful family from Denver Colorado which lasted from 1981-1989. Jeff and Fallon moved to California and starred in the spin-off series called "The Colbys." Unfortunately, "The Colbys" only lasted from 1985-1987.
