Grines, the general of the Venek horde, is captured, though in history, he is the one who accepts the peace treaty given by Dacon. However, John tries to sneak him out after getting him to agree to a peace treaty, thus keeping the timeline as it should be. Unfortunately for everyone, nurse Kelsa sees him leaving and kills Grines, provoking the Venek horde even more. Dacon is killed, but in the timeline, that was supposed to happen anyway.

John, tied to a statue after being caught helping Grines escape, finds Harvey, now taking on the role of that little voice inside John's head, playing "Home on the Range" on the harmonica, saying, "Ah, John, if this situation hadn't reminded you of all those old westerns you watched as a youth, I never would have heard that."

Harvey, while talking to John, wears cowboy boots and one of them has the name Andy written on it, just like Woody from "Toy Story." This was an added joke by Ben Browder.

Pilot notices that the automated instructions for orbiting ships changes languages, from Jocacean to Venek, then the planet becomes lifeless with millions dead and then disappears completely, destroyed by war. In the end, when John and the others escape, thinking the horde would have no reason to kill the nurses, they discover that the horde did indeed kill them, including the little girl, Cyntrina.
