Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who of these people has met Michael Langdon before his arrival at Outpost Three?

Answer: Dinah

Michael Langdon continues his cooperative efforts in Outpost Three, taking Timothy, Mr. Gallant, Mallory, and Coco aside in Ms. Venable's office at different times to speak to them about what they've done and how they're feeling. After the potential execution in the decontamination chamber, Langdon saved Timothy and Emily from their fates.

He also assuages Mr. Gallant's fears that his grandmother had a painful death. Perhaps the most interesting conversation is the one he has with Dinah Stevens since he refers to her as a chaotic element in the Outpost, especially since they've met before.

She admits she's not as powerful as he thinks but she seeks the Sanctuary. He agrees that she's likely exactly who he's looking for.
2. Who, during their discussion of Cooperation, sees Michael Langdon's true form begin to emerge?

Answer: Mallory

Langdon admits to Mallory that he's seeking not people who are unblemished, but people who can assist in repopulating the world in a new, more fortuitous way, and he encourages her to let her true self show to him. She admits that she doesn't really know who she is, saying that it's always felt like someone is deep inside her, trying to claw their way out of her body, but she doesn't know what that means.

She rushes to leave, but Langdon attempts to stop her, grabbing her arm. In Mallory's anger, the room shakes and many of the lights are extinguished; Langdon is knocked to the ground.

He rises and comes at her, his face changing in the darkness, but he's kept at bay by a rush of fire from the nearby hearth. Neither of them can make heads or tails of who the other is.
3. Ms. Mead claims to have vivid memories of her past.

Answer: True

In one of the chambers of Outpost Three, Langdon performs a blood sacrifice, using his own blood to form a pentagram and summon Satan to show him what he needs to see to stop the person he missed in his mysterious efforts. Ms. Mead, meanwhile, recalls her Halloween memories with Ms. Venable.

In 1962 she made her first trick-or-treating costume (Rosie the Robot); in 1968 she went to see "Rosemary's Baby" on her first date; in 1988 she made her first kill, choking a terrorist to death in a suburb somewhere.

She remembers every feeling she had, even if some of her memories just aren't all there. All this time she thought her experiences were what she was, but her experiences are false; she's nothing but a machine. Venable assures her that she has family with her, and that her mission is the same as it's always been.
4. Who survived the blasts in Los Angeles?

Answer: Coco's boyfriend

Ms. Mead and Ms. Venable continue to contemplate Michael Langdon's presence and motivation and both decide that since Venable has already been confirmed to be left behind, they will need to act to save themselves. Their best course of action, Mead decides, is to kill everyone including Langdon before taking his computer and seeking out the Sanctuary on their own. Out in the wasteland, Coco's boyfriend, Brock, wanders the streets looking for the shelter she'd gone to.

He comes across a roving gang of mutant cannibals and seeks answers there, but, realizing the position he's in, he kills them all with a shotgun and continues on his way...until a coach drawn by two horses rides by.
5. What is found in the case in the horse-drawn carriage?

Answer: Apples

Outpost Three receives a new alert via its surveillance system as the carriage approaches outside, and when Ms. Mead heads out to investigate, she finds that no one is inside. Brock, however, has stowed away underneath. What is inside, however, is a case, sealed shut but full of apples. Mead brings it inside for herself, her associate, and Ms. Venable to examine and, sure enough, they're fresh and delicious. Venable believes that Langdon had them sent to show what would be waiting for the chosen in the Sanctuary. Mead and Venable both decide that they have an opportunity before them-- a party, perhaps, and they plot to use the apples to their benefit. Outside, Brock ambushes Mead's assistant, stabbing her in the back and using her card key to gain entry to the outpost.
6. What is the theme of Venable's Halloween masquerade?

Answer: Victorian

Mallory contemplates what may be inside her as she stares into the fire in the main hall. Soon, however, Venable calls a meeting and all are surprised and apprehensive when she announces that they shall have a Halloween masquerade ball in the style of the Victorian era.

She encourages them to be creative, and attendance shall be mandatory. That night, Coco tries out some new hair ideas for Coco while Mallory considers costume ideas, and it's at this point that Coco believes that the costume party is the perfect cover for an announcement to reveal who was chosen for the Sanctuary. Mr. Gallant seems to think he has a shot at being picked and says as much, but Mallory, worried that something is amiss, admits that she may have done something crazy involving fire.
7. The man who dances with Coco at the Halloween party wears which of these?

Answer: A mask

The night of the party finally arrives, and in the music room the occupants of Outpost Three are surprised with the apples. Ms. Mead warns the others not to indulge yet; they shall all have a chance to bob for their treats. Mr. Gallant immediately associates the apples with the Garden of Eden, claiming them to be an indication of their entry to the Sanctuary, before Ms. Venable arrives to speak about the night of All Hallows Eve.

They are told to remember the deaths behind them, but they shall celebrate them as well. During the dance, Coco is approached by a man in a black cloak and wearing an ornate mask.

She believes him to me Michael Langdon and unloads to him, but he doesn't respond.
8. Who dies during the evening of the masquerade, but not by poison?

Answer: Coco

Coco, promising to give Langdon more than she ever gave Brock, pulls the mystery man to one of the rooms in order to seduce him. Soon though, he speaks to her, taking off his mask to reveal himself. She's distraught at his appearance (which he claims is the result of radioactive fallout, cancer, cannibal attacks, and infections that never heal) and she claims to be thrilled to see him, but his anger is palpable.

He takes a knife and plunges it into her forehead. Out in the music room, the others bob for apples and Venable tells them to wait until everyone has participated before they eat them. Little do the party-goers know, the apples contain venom from the snakes in the decontamination chamber, and their nervous systems will degrade once they eat the fruits.
9. Who created Ms. Mead?

Answer: Michael Langdon

When everyone has finished bobbing for apples, Venable gives one additional speech before raising an apple and instructing the partiers to take their bites. Almost immediately, everyone present begins to feel ill, vomiting profusely before collapsing to the floor, writing in agony. Before long, everyone in the music room is dead. Venable and Mead depart from the music room, successful in their venture, and head directly to Michael Langdon's room to announce that they're now the ones making the selections. Langdon states that because of what she did she would be perfect for the Sanctuary, but she doesn't care.

Instead, she instructs Ms. Mead to shoot Langdon. This doesn't go as planned. Instead, Mead, against her will, points the gun at Venable and fires it at her, hitting her directly in the chest.
10. How many witches are amongst the people in Outpost Three?

Answer: Three

As Ms. Venable lay on the floor dying, Langdon tells Mead that she need not worry; she executed a plan perfectly and she followed her programming to its logical end. It was his idea to bring the apples in so that someone would poison them and kill the inhabitants of Outpost Three; he just needed someone else to do it so he didn't need to get his hands dirty. All people, he believes, if pressured to, can be evil. Ms. Mead doesn't understand what her role was in all of it, but Langdon says that she was created on his request, made from a prototype of someone very near and dear to him when he was a boy.

It is time, however, to remember it all. He needs her with him because she will understand and love him. In the music room, the radio continues to play as static takes over.

The song switches to the jaunty "She's a Rainbow" by The Rolling Stones. Outside Outpost Three, three figures in black garb approach through the fog. Three witches-- Cordelia Goode, Myrtle Snow, and Madison Montgomery-- enter the compound and retrieve their sisters (Coco, Mallory, and Dinah) before Cordelia breathes life into each, resurrecting them.
