Leela is crying because Bender flushed Nibbler down the toilet. Leela says that Bender has no sympathy for anyone else's feelings. Bender says he does and that he feels sorry for her. He says, "I mean one cantaloupe-sized bloodshot eye; you ain't wining no beauty pageants, lady".

Farnsworth tries to tune the chip to Leela's emotional frequency. On his first try, he tunes it to Zoidberg's. Bender says that he feels a powerful yearning to cram his gullet full of mackerel heads. The second try tunes the chip to Amy, and Bender says he's worried that he's not as smart as Leela but is relieved that he's cuter than her. Fry thanks Amy for covering for him because he's too stupid to know his own thoughts.

The third try he gets Leela's. Bender says he misses Nibbler and is feeling nosey and opinionated.

Bender flushes himself down the toilet to look for Nibbler. Fry says they should go down and find Bender. Amy and Zoidberg mention the mutants living down there, but Leela just says that's an urban myth. Farnsworth says that some scientists believe humans really can mutate in the sewers due exposure to toxic waste, radioactive runoff, and good old American feces.

While in the sewers, Fry asks one of the mutants if it's true that alligators flushed down the toilet survive down in the sewer. The mutant says no and that's just an urban legend. Bender points out a bunch of reptiles swimming in the water and asks what they are. The mutant says they're crocodiles.

One of the mutants says that they keep the crocodiles as pets until they grow too large, then they flush them down into the sub-sewer. Another mutant mentions the freakish race of sub-mutants living there. One mutant says that just a sub-urban legend. The mutant named Dwayne says, "Oh? Then I suppose you also don't believe in El Chupa Nibre" and sings a rhyme about it on his guitar.
