Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Nathan's half-brother played by Chad Michael Murray on "One Tree Hill".

Answer: Lucas Scott

Lucas and Nathan were three months apart in age, and rivals in basketball and love. Lucas' mother Karen was the high school sweetheart of their father Dan Scott, and Nathan's mother Deb was Dan's freshman college girlfriend (and later wife). They both sought love and approval from Dan, who was a wealthy narcissist played by Paul Johansson. James Lafferty played Nathan Scott.

He went on to star on "Crisis" and "Underground" , and Chad went on to star on "Chosen" and "Agent Carter".
2. He was the red haired older brother of Joanie on "Happy Days".

Answer: Richie Cunningham

Ron Howard played Richie from 1974-1984, in 170 episodes. Joanie and Richie had another brother named Chuck, who mysteriously vanished from the show without explanation. "Happy Days" effectively instituted two syndromes for future TV series, jumping the shark and vanishing character syndromes. Erin Moran played Joanie on the show and its spin-off "Joanie Loves Chachi". Ron went on to become an award winning writer/director for such movies as "Parenthood" (1989), "Apollo 13" (1995), and "The Da Vinci Code" (2006). Erin Moran's career tapered off after "Happy Days" ended.
3. Sam's demon fighting older brother on "Supernatural".

Answer: Dean Winchester

"Supernatural" debuted in 2005 with Jensen Ackles playing Dean, Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing their father, and Jim Beaver as mentor and fellow demon hunter Bobby Singer. In 2016, the CW announced that "Supernatural" had been renewed for its 12th season. Jared Padalecki played Sam, Dean's younger brother on the show. But, he'd previously played a Dean himself on "Gilmore Girls".

It was announced in 2016 that Jared, who'd been open in 2015 about his battle with depression, would reprise his role on the Netflix reboot of "Gilmore Girls".
4. Evan's older brother, a concierge doctor in The Hamptons, played by Mark Feuerstein on "Royal Pains".

Answer: Dr. Hank Lawson

"Royal Pains" premiered on the USA Network in 2009. The eighth season of the show would debuted in May 2016. Evan encouraged Hank to relocate to The Hamptons after a disastrous turn of events at a New York hospital. Evan, an accountant, helped his brother to establish Hank Med, a doctor on call service for the wealthy citizens of The Hamptons. Hank, being the wise and generous man he was, also helped anyone else who crossed his path.

This made him very popular in the area. The pair was joined by Divya, as a Physician's Assitant, and later by another doctor named Jeremiah. Paulo Costanzo played the lovable Evan R. Lawson.

He was also in the "Friends" spin-off series "Joey", and starred on Syfy's series "The Expanse" during his off time from "RP".
5. On "Parenthood" (2010-2015), he was the eldest brother to Sarah, Crosby, and Julia.

Answer: Adam Braverman

Peter Krause played Adam in this reboot of the series. It was first a feature film directed by Ron Howard, then a sitcom starring Leo DiCaprio (1990-91), and finally a family drama created by "Friday Night Lights" creator Jason Katims. Peter also played the eldest brother, Nate Fisher, on the HBO critical drama "Six Feet Under".

In 2016 he began portraying a conman on "The Catch". The drama "Parenthood" was not a ratings darling for NBC, but its dedicated fans kept it on the air for six seasons. And, like with "SFU", we were offered a glimpse into the future in the series finale.
6. Robert's brother played by Ray Romano on "Everybody Loves Raymond".

Answer: Ray Barone

The series aired from 1996-2005. It was never a show I watched because I am not a fan of Patricia Heaton, at all. Brad Garrett played Robert. Ray Romano went on to star on "Parenthood" and the HBO series "Vinyl".
7. He's the bad seed older brother to Stefan on "The Vampire Diaries".

Answer: Damon Salvatore

"The Vampire Diaries" began in 2009, and starred Paul Wesley as Stefan, and Ian Somerhalder as his older brother Damon. Stefan and Damon were turned into vampires by Katherine Pierce in the late 1800s in Mystic Falls, Virginia. Damon was the selfish imp scarred by his abusive father and dead mother*, and Stefan was the do-gooder plagued by his villainous vampire behaviors. They both fell in love with a human girl named Elena, who was later turned into a vampire herself. In 2016, the CW Network and Ian Somerhalder announced that the next season, number eight, would be the final one for the series.

*There is more to that story.
8. On the "Cheers" spin-off "Frasier", he was the younger brother to Frasier, and both men were doctors.

Answer: Dr. Niles Crane

Kelsey Grammer played Frasier in over 200 episodes of both "Cheers" and "Frasier". Frasier came home to Seattle in 1993 after his marriage ended, and began his career as a radio psychiatrist. His father lived with him, as did his father's dog Eddie. Niles was also a psychiatrist, and had also ended his marriage. David Hyde Pierce played Niles Crane.

The show was extremely successful and aired from 1993-2004. I have never seen one episode.
9. Ruthless, cunning, and dangerous all describe this 1000 year old hybrid who's the brother of Elijah, Freya, Finn, Kol, Henrik, and Rebekah on "The Originals".

Answer: Klaus Mikaelson

Henrik was killed by werewolves, which inspired the Originals' mother to make the rest of her children immortal. Klaus (Niklaus) was a hybrid because his biological father had been a werewolf, and he was not the son of Mikael. Though they had all (save Henrik) been alive for a thousand years, some had been awake for it more than others. Some, like Freya and Finn, had been witches. Freya's immortality was not the result of Esther's vampire spell, but of a pact made between Esther and her sister. Joseph Morgan played Klaus brilliantly, first on "The Vampire Diaries" and then on the spin-off. Klaus had a child named Hope with a werewolf named Hayley, who became a hybrid herself during the birth.
10. Beaver's older brother on the original "Leave it to Beaver" (1957-1963).

Answer: Wally Cleaver

Wally Cleaver was played by Tony Dow, and Beaver by Jerry Mathers. The Cleavers seemed to be the ideal American family (ugh), with mother June always perfectly coiffed and deferring to her husband Ward on all family issues. And, while that did seem like the norm at the time, the husband being so kind to his wife and children may have been a bit of a stretch. Ward was always so fair, and a gentle disciplinarian. I could never figure out, though, how June was able to do everything in that house and almost never get a stain on her light colored clothing. Looking back, I believe it's fair to say that show was someone's idea of a fantasy.
11. From 1978-1991, "Dallas" showcased the shenanigans of ruthless oil tycoon J.R. Who was his youngest brother?

Answer: Bobby Ewing

There were four Ewing brothers on the original series, though the third Ewing boy was named Ray Krebbs. He was the result of an affair between Jock Ewing and Ray's mother. In order, it was J.R. (John Ross Jr.), Gary, Ray, and finally Bobby. Bobby was the opposite of J.R., a protagonist to his antagonist.

The series came back in 2012, featuring many of the same characters, but was canceled not long after the death of Larry Hagman.
12. This brother was played by David Cassidy on a musical series that began in 1970. He had siblings named Laurie, Chris, Tracy, and Danny.

Answer: Keith Partridge

"The Partridge Family" lasted from 1970-1974. I was born in 1973 and watched re-runs of the series during the 1980s. The series was about a musical family. Danny, played by Danny Bonaduce, found the family a manager named Reuben to help their career. Susan Dey played Laurie, and Shirley Jones played their mother.
13. Frank and his brother solved mysteries in the 1970s, sometimes alongside Nancy Drew. Who was Frank's brother?

Answer: Joe Hardy

Shaun Cassidy played Joe and Parker Stevenson played Frank on "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries" from 1977-79. In the show's final season, Nancy was dropped from the title. The characters were inspired by their book counterparts. This was another series I watched as re-runs during the 1980s, and had a huge crush on Parker Stevenson. Shaun Cassidy was the half-brother of David Cassidy, who was in "The Partridge Family". Shaun went on to become a successful TV producer for such series as "Cold Case", "Invasion", and "Blue Bloods".

As of the making of this quiz, his last acting appearance was in 1988.
14. On a 1980s show bearing their name, who was the detective brother of A.J. played by actor Gerald McRaney?

Answer: Rick Simon

Rick and A.J. Simon had their own detective agency, and this was one of my favorite primetime series of the 1980s. Rick was the military vet older brother, and A.J. was a college educated hottie. Rick lived on a boat, which was very memorable to me, but it was close to A.J.'s house. Gerald went on to star in many TV shows and movies. Some of his notable roles were on "Major Dad", "Promised Land", "Deadwood", "Jericho", "Longmire", and "House of Cards".
Jameson Parker played A.J. In 2004/5 he starred on several episodes of "JAG" as Deputy Director Harrison Kershaw.
15. He was the baby brother of Becky, Darlene, and DJ Conner on "Roseanne".

Answer: Jerry Garcia

Jerry Garcia Conner was born late to Dan and Roseanne. He was their fourth and final child, born after Jackie's son Andy. His name was a tribute to Grateful Dead band member Jerry Garcia, who died not long before the baby's birth. Roseanne was pregnant in real life during her on screen pregnancy, having her own final child. Prior to his birth, they'd said on the show that the amniocentesis revealed the baby to be, to be a girl. Roseanne changed her mind after her own real baby's sex was revealed to her.
