3. When did the original "Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" first run on television?

Answer: 1971-1974

"The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" was created when a network executive spotted Sonny and Cher performing elsewhere. Answer: Ret Turner

Besides designing for "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour", Ret Turner is known for designing costumes on a number of television series, variety shows and specials. 5. What duet did Sonny and Cher perform at the end of each episode of "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour"?

Answer: I Got You Babe

"I Got You Babe" was a hit for the duo, perhaps made more popular because they sang it to one another at the end of each episode. They would sometimes sing it with their toddler in tow. 6. In total, how many episodes of the "Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" were taped?

Answer: 63

Answer: CBS

Network executive Fred Silverman spotted Sonny and Cher performing elsewhere and worked to have them on their own variety show on his network. The show was taped at CBS Television City in Hollywood. Audience sounds on each episode were a mixture of live audience and laugh track.

The singing performances were typically done in front of a live audience, but due to delays caused by the need for costume changes, the sketch portions of the show were typically taped without a live audience and a laugh track was inserted later.
10. Why did the "Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" come to an end?

Answer: The divorce of Sonny and Cher.

Unfortunately, Sonny and Cher's divorce was quite bitter and happened before a season could be started in 1974. The split made it impossible for them to work together at that time. They did reunite in 1976 for "The Sonny and Cher Show", but that only lasted for one season before they split for good. Sonny Bono died in a skiing accident on January 5, 1998.
