Claus and Lavie believed that the vanship belonged to their fathers. Their fathers, along with Alex's fiancee (Yuris), were killed by Maestro Delphine in the Grand Stream. Alex ran away, and since then was haunted by nightmares of that day. He lives to kill Delphine, and finally ends up doing so (he was also killed shortly after). Needless to say, Claus was none too happy when Alex told him that the vanship once belonged to him.

Duke Nouls had a henchmen pressing a gun against Alex's head. That was enough convincing for him to let it slide. However, had Alex known that Delphine was the one who got the "Door to EXILE", he probably would've attacked her... gun or no gun. The closing price for the item was 50 million Claudia, but Delphine paid for it with a single ring that cost much less. Duke Nouls tried to assassinate Alex after the auction, but in one quick action, Alex took out five of the guards and got away.

Alex doesn't follow either the Guild or the Empire. His interest is only in destroying Maestro Delphine. Yes, the Empress is his first mate, but he's told her where he stands. A good quote to prove this fact is in the second episode in the middle of a battle between the Empire and the Guild.

When the Sylvana enters the fray (despite protests from the Empire), Alex commands his crew to fire and Sophia replies: "On which fleet?". This implies that Alex has attacked the Empire before.

Known in the Empire as "unstable" and "a ticking time bomb under command of a deadly ship", they believed that a combination like his was very dangerous. They sent Sophia to the Sylvana to keep an eye on him and make sure he didn't make any rash actions that would endanger the Empire. Yes, Sophia did eventually fall in love with Alex, but that wasn't the reason she was sent on board.

The Sylvana was sunk only once: against the Urbanus. Still, with the Sylvana's awesome power and Alex's ruthlessness, it is veritably undefeatable. Another nickname used in conjunction with the Sylvana is "The Annihilator", but that's Alex's nickname, not the Sylvana's.

When Alex's vanship was attacked by Maestro Delphine, his leg was permanently injured. Though it's not injured to a degree where he can't walk, he always walks with a slight limp. The cane helps ease the pressure on his injured leg. In addition, the cane doubles as a high-powered rifle that can even destroy a Guild star-ship.

The captain of the Goliath thought that Alex would be a pushover. He was shocked and terrified when the Sylvana pulled out of the dock in answer to his challenge. To try and sink the Sylvana, he fired on them before the duel began... attacking the rear of the ship where it was unguarded. Unfortunately, the Sylvana had a secret weapon that obliterated the Goliath.

Claus and Lavie were given the 7-star mission to take Alvis to the Sylvana and place her under the care of Alex Rowe. When they were confronted by a Guild ship, Alex rescued them with his cane-rifle and then had Godwyn take Alvis to the Sylvana. They chased after the Sylvana because they wanted to give Alvis the stuffed goat that she liked... and they wanted to know what was going to happen to Al.

However, it is true that Alex didn't pay them in full... he paid them only half of their amount because he was forced to rescue them.

When Claus and Lavie tried to reach the Sylvana, Alex signaled them to go away... when they didn't comply, he had the Sylvana open fire.
