Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Everyone in camp is excited, the annual Army-Navy game is about to begin. Radar has managed to collect $1,000 for the football pool, even squeezing $10 out of Father Mulcahy. Speaking of the good Father, when he arrives in Henry's office for the radio party, what university's pennant is he holding?

Answer: Notre Dame

Being a good Catholic, Father Mulcahy is a Notre Dame fan. When he enters Henry's office he finds Colonel Blake entertaining Hawkeye, Trapper and a few nurses. Mulcahy amusingly shouts, 'How about one for the Gipper!'
2. Just as the game is about to begin on the radio, the 4077th is besieged by bombs. Henry's office is a shambles as everyone scrambles for cover. Which of these characters is actually hit by shell fragments?

Answer: Henry

Henry is injured enough that he becomes delusional, putting Frank temporarily in charge...boy is the 4077th in trouble!
3. After shells rain on the 4077th one last bomb hits the camp, but does not explode. One of the doctors has to check the bomb to see if it's ticking. Which doctor draws the shortest matchstick, earning this ignominious responsibility?

Answer: Frank

With Henry incapacitated, it falls to one of his subordinate doctors to check the bomb. Frank draws the shortest matchstick, but then faints on his way out. The responsibility then falls to Hawkeye.
4. In this episode, Klinger appears in his civilian clothes, the ones he wore when he was drafted. He imagines the possibility that he might be able to leave Korea, even if it's in a million bits from the exploded bomb. According to Klinger, why has he been making such a desperate effort to get out of the war?

Answer: He was brought up to respect life.

Klinger regales Father Mulcahy with his adventures at the draft office where he claims to have eaten an eye chart, licked a doctor's ear and jammed a letter opener in his heel. None of it seemed to work, as he was still sent to Korea. Klinger suggests that he's not a coward, but rather just a peaceful human being.
5. Frank and Margaret share a bottle of champagne, believing this could be their last time together. Margaret asks Frank how he would feel about meeting in another time and place. What one-word response satisfies her?

Answer: Nifty

Frank's initial response is 'nice', which Margaret does not like. He then quickly changes his tune, suggesting that it would be 'nifty', an answer that garners an immediate positive response from Hot Lips.
6. Ultimately, we discover that this unexploded bomb that has landed right smack dab in the middle of the 4077th is a navy bomb.

Answer: false

A recovering Henry makes calls to both army and navy headquarters before finally discovering that the bomb is a secret weapon of the CIA. Somehow, Henry is able to get instructions on how to dismantle this mysterious incendiary device.
7. Radar busily walks about the camp with his normal fastidiousness. He is momentarily distracted, however, when he sees Klinger in his civilian outfit. What does a mystified Radar say to Klinger?

Answer: Don't I know your sister?

This is one of the more amusing lines in the episode. A rare look at Jamie Farr in men's civilian clothing, he won't wear such clothing again for about six seasons!
8. Always one to display his bravery, Hawkeye attempts to defuse the bomb with no assistance.

Answer: false

Indeed, Hawkeye has his trusty Swampmate Trapper by his side. Before they attempt to defuse the bomb, they are instructed by Henry to 'just defuse it and run like hell.' Hawkeye adds, 'But with dignity.'
9. Though the bomb is never defused, nobody in the camp is hurt. It turns out to be a propaganda bomb. Whose name is attached to the message in this device?

Answer: Douglas MacArthur

The message Hawkeye reads goes as follows: 'Give yourselves up. You can't win. Douglas MacArthur.' Not exactly the type of message you want to deliver to your own troops!
10. Oh yes, incidentally, who wins the Army-Navy game that frames the story of this episode?

Answer: Navy

Much to the chagrin of the dwellers at the 4077th, Navy wins the football game 42-36. Father Mulcahy, of all people, wins the football pool and the $1,000 prize. No doubt the winnings go to the orphanage.
