Bess first arranges the furniture, but Mary later rearranges it.

Lou uses this to finish his sentence to his wife. Bill is played by Angus Duncan, who played a starring role in "General Hospital" and guest starred in numerous television shows, including "Bewitched," "Rockford Files," and "Starsky and Hutch."

Answer: Lars has varicella.

Phyllis says that Lars has contracted a case of varicella from one of his patients. She tells them that he is in the incubation period, and that she is immune. Rhoda laughs, when she finds out varicella means plain old chicken pox, and teases Phyllis. A few days later, Phyllis comes to pick up Bess and happily states, "Lars was in error when he thought he had varicella."

Answer: call Mary at work and disturb her

Nancy Walker plays the role of Ida Morgenstern, for the first time, in this episode that won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy,(1971). Ida never calls Mary at work in this show, however she does worry Mary by not answering the phone, when Mary repeatedly tries to call her from WJM.

Answer: scarves

In this scene, Mary tries to convince Mrs Morgenstern that she loves the scarves by putting one on right away to wear to work. Ida then says "I'm sorry you don't like the other one." Later at work, Murray asks Mary why she is wearing two scarves.

Answer: apple pie

Phyllis stops by with an apple pie for Mary to try. She comments that she has never made a pie before but is making it for Lars' dinner to help win him back. Both Mary and Rhoda pretend the pie is good, and Rhoda exclaims "I love this pie!" Cloris Leachman won an Emmy for this episode as Best Supporting Actress in Comedy. Betty White made her first appearance as "The Happy Homemaker."

Answer: Neil Armstrong

In this scene, Lou mentions that a couple of good friends dropped over, while Mary was out. He begins by saying, "John Glenn told the funniest story." Then he mentions Hubert Humphrey and Eric Sevareid, whom he states "was just giving Ethel Kennedy a lift." When Mary asks how she got home, Mr Grant tells her, "The Fords gave her a ride." Neil Armstrong is never mentioned, but Mary, who believes Lou is making all this up, does ask "Was Lincoln here too?"

Answer: a pipe

She asks him to look in the seat cushion for the president's favorite pipe, that he thinks may have fallen out of his pocket. After finding the pipe, Mary still doesn't believe the president and his wife were there.

Answer: Two years notice

In this scene, Mary says "Well, if we can't be friends, then I don't think I want to work here anymore." Lou responds "You will give me two weeks notice, won't you?" Mary, trying to get a smile out of Lou, says "No! No! I will give you two years notice. In two years, if you're still acting like this, then I'm getting out."

Answer: Ted

When Mary tells Ted that she's been "thinking seriously about getting a 'little sister'," Ted responds, "Thinking seriously, Mary? Well now, I've been thinking seriously about becoming a plastic surgeon so that I can help tattooed people start a new life." Ted is overjoyed when Mary decides to call the Big Sisters Association because of his comment. Mary's "little sister" is played by Mackenzie Phillips, who later plays Julie Cooper on the television show "One Day at a Time."
