In this episode, a woman is heard screaming that Dale Biederbeck (aka "Dale the Whale") is in her home attacking her. But the police arrive too late, and she is dead.

Monk is sure that the notorious Dale, who had a motive, killed the woman. But how could he have, if he is over 800 pounds?

Adam Kirk is accused of murder when he gets on board a ferris wheel with a strange man who wants to talk with him. While they are up high, the man screams that Kirk is attacking him. A woman named Kitty, who controls the ride, stops it, and when Kirk gets off, the man has been stabbed.

But did he really do it?

Manny, who is at the asylum, is a grown man who still believes in Santa Claus. He claims to have seen him several times on the asylum's roof. Adrian Monk, though, realizes that it is someone dressed as Santa going to retrieve something.

In this scene, Captain Stottlemeyer calls Monk on his cell phone while he is having dinner with Monica Waters. He says that she is the killer. When Monica asks who called, Monk has to have an excuse. He says:

This is a hilarious black and white flashback scene when Monk recounts to Sharona why he was kicked off the track team. Adrian was one of the team's best runners, but he had to tie and even out his shoelaces before a big race. Because of this, the coach kicked him off the team. However, his speed comes in handy while chasing the murderer in this episode.

Answer: The body is nowhere to be found.

In this episode, Benjy, Sharona's son, sees through a window that a woman is being brutally murdered. But when Monk visits the room where Benjy saw the murder, the room is perfectly clean and the body can't be found. However, Monk believes that Benjy is telling the truth, and he finds out who was murdered and who did it.

After the earthquake, Sharona goes to see if Monk is okay. He starts talking gibberish, and Sharona, worrying, calls Dr. Kroger. He says that the trauma of the earthquake shorted out a section of the left hemisphere of his brain.
