I don't personally think that Zoe was right for him...there should only be one recurring female role, Miss Parker. So it would only make sense that Jarod and Miss Parker should have been the ones to get together...in my opinion. However, had the series continued after season four, instead of making the movies on TNT, it looked like the writers were planning on keeping the Zoe character.
