Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Ben comes into the arena and tells the mascot that it's his anniversary working at the arena. How many years has he been employed at the Sunshine Arena?

Answer: ten

All Ben wants is some recognition of this achievement, and throughout the entire episode he tries to gain that recognition. In the end he discovers that it's not about how long he's been with the arena, but how well he does his job. Ben is indispensable, even if he feels taken for granted at times, and this Crystal and the rest of the staff learn the hard way.
2. Crystal announces the "Most Valuable Employee" contest. What is the prize she gives out?

Answer: A new golf cart

"In the same spirit that drove America to defeat all those lazy countries and win the Statue of Liberty", Crystal announces her "Most Valuable Employee" contest. Crystal has the brand new golf cart driven into the room by the mascot, and Ben lauds the idea as a silly one.

He also thinks the idea of a "Most Valuable Employee" contest is a silly one because people will not be concentrating on their jobs, leaving him to pick up all the slack. This, ultimately, turns out to be true.
3. What makes Ben think he's going to win the "Most Valuable Employee" contest?

Answer: Crystal keeps winking at him knowingly

When Ben is about to confront Crystal and tell her that it's his anniversary at the arena, she tells him that the contest is rigged and then winks at him. Of course, Ben understands this as an acknowledgment of his services and that he's to be the recipient of the "Most Valuable Employee" title. Little does he know that it's not the case...

At the same time that Crystal is winking at Ben, she also manages to glue her fingers together.
4. What is the name of the teen sensation that is due to sing at the Sunshine Arena later that evening, which to me sounded like an amalgamation of the names of two starting quarterbacks in the 2010-11 NFL season?

Answer: Eli Cutler

Eli Cutler is a teen pop star, oops, rock star, that is able to sell out the entire arena. Because of this, everybody at the Sunshine Arena is expected to jump when Eli says "hop" to accommodate his every wish, as silly or extravagant as it may seem. Eli is spoiled, and knows it, but also knows that the arena needs him to perform.

Eli Cutler, to me at least, sounded like an amalgamation of Eli Manning (QB for the NY Giants) and Jay Cutler (QB for the Chicago Bears). Or maybe that's just a coincidence...
5. Who does the teen starlet think Ben reminds him of?

Answer: Larry King

Ben says that he gets compared to David Beckham often, but Eli Cutler is firm on Larry King. Ben complains that Larry King is old, in fact, "so old that he had to retire from sitting in a chair". So, Ben is compared to Larry King, only a bit plumper.

This is but another blow to Ben's ego that he has been with the arena for so long, and nobody recognizes this fact.
6. What is the first request that the teen starlet has of Ben?

Answer: A boxed set of "Brothers & Sisters"

Eli Cutler's reasoning is that "just because they're old doesn't mean that family gets any easier" - something Ben repeats to Heather when he makes her go out to get the DVDs. Eli has many demands of Ben, even though that's not really Ben's job to take care of. Perhaps that's what makes Ben even more infuriated that he bends over backwards just so that Eli will go on and play the gig.

Eli knows that he had both bad parenting and a lot of money, and he knows that the combination makes him spoiled. He mentions that he refused to go onstage for a concert in Toronto because they couldn't find him a spicy enough crab roll. And he hates seafood!
7. What gift does Alonzo give the blind children?

Answer: Signed Frisbees

Alonzo runs the arena's charity and outreach program, and he meets with blind children that came for Eli Cutler's concert. He steals the swag that Alice was going to use to fill the SoCal wireless suite with. Alice was hoping that the swag would help her sweeten the deal so that money gets invested into the arena.

Alice decides to steal back the stolen swag, and replaces the Frisbees with paper plates. However, Alonzo catches her in the act and confronts her. They proceed to have an argument in front of the blind children, at the end of which they remark that they "can hear, you know".
8. When Ben confronts Crystal in her office late in the episode, what compensation does he tell her that he wants?

Answer: A snow boat

He wants something of equal or greater value than the golf cart. He asks for a snowmobile, then a small boat. Finally he compromises on "a snow boat that can sail across ice and certain lakes". Crystal had told him that he could take the night off, and he finally does this in protest, knowing that the concert would not run as smoothly as everyone thought it would, especially when he hears that Eli Cutler is refusing to go onstage.
9. Does Ben actually know by heart all of the songs that the teen starlet is supposed to perform?

Answer: No

Ben goes back to the arena in order to avert a riot and to convince Eli Cutler to go on and play his gig. Eli is worried that his music isn't any good, and Ben proceeds to rattle off a list of songs of Eli's that he thinks are good. However, Ben is actually reading their names from Eli's set-list that's hanging on the wall behind his back.

Nevertheless, Ben is a good enough motivational speaker to convince Eli to go and perform. Ben tells Eli that sometimes "you really need someone to tell you that you're really good at your job". Eli, in return, tells Ben that he thinks that Ben is really good at his job, and he even dedicates the first song of the concert to Ben. Well, actually he dedicates it to "some guy who works here", but, that's close enough.
10. Finally, who is the winner of the "Most Valuable Employee" contest?

Answer: Roman

Roman is the recipient of the golf cart, a gift that Crystal wanted to give him as a mother but could not give him directly. Immediately when it's announced, he jumps for joy and states that "the system works!". Upon inspecting the golf cart, he sees that it's wrapped in a giant red ribbon. He declares that "a giant had to have tied this", referring to the ribbon.

The life of the golf cart is short-lived. Roman, in an attempt to woo Heather, or maybe because he is so impressionable, douses the golf cart in gasoline and sets it on fire. Magically, it doesn't set off the alarms in the building, and when Ben discovers it, he calls for maintenance to come put it out.
