Grandpa is actually Lily's father and Eddie's grandfather, but everyone in the family just calls him Grandpa. But if Lily's maiden name is Dracula, wouldn't Grandpa be Grandpa Dracula?

2. Marilyn lives with her Uncle Herman and Aunt Lily. Who is actually her blood relative?

Answer: Lily

Herman mentions that Marilyn is Lily's sister's child, afterwards saying, "No one on my side ever looked like that." Marilyn is one of the show's great mysteries. We are never told who her parents are, where they are, or why she's normal.

3. What is the name of Herman's twin brother?

Answer: Charlie

What I wonder is where Herman and Charlie's creator ever got matching sets of spare parts.

4. What kind of creature is Lily's brother, Lester?

Answer: Werewolf

The whole show might have been less complicated if Lester had been a normal human being. It would have explained where Marilyn came from. Lester was always in money troubles, and in episode 15, "Herman's Rival" his debts almost indirectly cost Lily and Herman their marriage.

He was played by Fred Gwynne as well. He had Herman's face and head, but the body of a gorilla.

Herman's brother Charlie quickly tries to swindle Lily out of her inheritance and nearly succeeds. Lily and Herman were desperate to get the money back because they were afraid that Lily wouldn't get any money the next time her grandmother died. :-)

Eddie decided he wanted a baby brother, but Lily and Herman weren't so thrilled about the idea, so Grandpa just made a brother. Boris' manners were so good that Lily and Herman kept telling Eddie to act more like Boris. Eventually Eddie ran away. Of course he came back, with lots of hugs and kisses all around.
