When Gibbs was in the hospital in his second coma, Abby came to visit. While Abby was begging the charge nurse to let her in to see Jethro, she mentions that her hearse broke down. That comment along with the strange items that the nurse saw in Abby's purse very quickly gained her access to Jethro's room.

Gibbs leans down to a device next to the elevator. This device uses an infrared light to map the pattern of blood vessels in the retina of the eye. The scanned pattern is then compared to a database of the patterns that belong to all of the people that have access to the building. If the scans match, the person is allowed access. Just as no two people have the same fingerprint, no two people have the same retinal pattern. Bad guys have become fairly good at faking fingerprints, but it is incredibly hard to fake a retinal pattern!

We notice this detail on a newspaper that Jenny was reading in her office right before Jethro walked in the door. It mentioned that she retired after 22 years in the Army. By the look on Jenny's face, she was relieved. Perhaps she thought she still had a chance with Jethro!

How proud McGee's parents must be! He has a B.S. in Biomechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. This field merges the disciplines of engineering and medicine, and overlaps numerous areas of the forensic science field.

He has a Masters in Computer Forensics from M.I.T. This extensive knowledge base is the main reason that Gibbs often has McGee helping Abby hack computers, crack encryptions, and process evidence. Face it, it takes one heck of a computer geek to hack into the CIA!

DiNozzo has mentioned this fact several times during the series. On one such occasion, DiNozzo was in the forensics lab listening to Abby and McGee's high tech explanation of something that was on the plasma screen. He interrupts their techno babble by saying, "Hey! Phys Ed major here!"

During one of the Halloween episodes, the team crashes a costume party looking for a suspect. They find the suspect dressed as a Klingon. (For all of the non-sci-fi fans out there, Klingons are one of the most prevalent alien species in the Star Trek universe.) During their first several questions, the suspect answered the team in the Klingon language. McGee was nice enough to translate what he said back into English for Gibbs. Poor McGee, as if Tony didn't have enough to make fun of him for already! Just for the record, during the series, McGee has proven himself to be fluent in Pig Latin as well!

This is Jethro's rule number 7. It's from the episode "Reveille". There are supposedly 50 of these rules, but only about 18-20 have been specifically mentioned during the series.

Stephanie returned Jethro's dog tags. She said that she found them in a drawer. Jethro accepts them, thinking that he had lost them years ago.

He tells Ducky that it is more than okay to apologize to a friend. He then apologizes to Ducky for how he has acted since his return to the job. Though Jethro cares very deeply for all of the members of the team, he only really considers Ducky a true friend.

At Kate's funeral, Jethro did say he was sorry to her. This is one of the very few times we hear Jethro apologize. Even though he said it, he never explicitly mentions it being okay to apologize to a dead person.
