Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first leg of the race ended on Cinta Costera III under the flag for what nation, the capital of which is seen here?

Answer: Panama

Racing from Los Angeles to Panama City in Leg 1, twenty-two racers combined into unique, never-before-met teams of two to commence a race around the world for one million dollars. In this first set of tasks, teams spent the day driving around the complicated highways and streets of Panama City looking for the Miraflores Locks before diving headlong into the Chagres River in the rainforests of Soberanía National Park.

The leg ended just off the coastal beltway, Cinta Costera, where teams found their placements and Kevin and Jenn were eliminated from the race.
2. Teams reached the urban rainforest of Trianon Park in São Paulo, Brazil. Which team won the leg?

Answer: Michael and Liz

Although Michael and Liz were the penultimate team to arrive at the race's first Pit Stop in Panama City, they checked in first in the second leg due to a convenient middle-place flight, skill during the Detour, and speed during the Road Block. They narrowly beat out leg front-runners Vanck and Ashton to win themselves a trip to Barbados from Travelocity. Taking flights to their direct opposite, Jesse and Francseca ended up booking themselves on a flight that proved inconvenient as their later arrival caught them up in traffic and kept them at the back of the pack for the entire leg.
3. Which of these tasks did teams not complete while in Stone Town, Tanzania for Legs 3 and 4?

Answer: Create a metal ladle strainer

In Legs 3 and 4, teams made their way by ferry from the coastal city of Dar es Salaam to the island of Zanzibar, completing the bulk of their tasks in the city of Stone Town (in addition to facing a Blind Double U-Turn). The odd one out here is the metal ladle strainer which team members created during the Leg 4 Road Block. Unfortunately this was done after teams returned to Dar es Salaam, meaning it wasn't done in Stone Town. Following this, teams checked into the Pit Stop and only seven teams remained.
4. Geirangerfjord was the site of which of these moments in the race (in Leg 5)?

Answer: Fast Forward

Though most teams drove their way around the fjords of the Norwegian coast in and around the city of Ålesund, Norway in Leg 5, Becca and Floyd started the leg ahead and translated their momentum into a unique Fast Forward chance that allowed them to take a helicopter 10,000 feet above Norway from Geirangerfjord. Once the duo completed a tandem skydive they could head directly to the Pit Stop on Mount Aksla in Ålesund proper.
5. Teams visited Italy in Leg 6 and headed to Lake Como, but not before enjoying dinner in what city?

Answer: Milan

Continuing on immediately after hitting the Pit Stop mat in Leg 5, teams needed to get themselves to the city of Milan, Italy where, for a Road Block, one team member had to enjoy dinner and the sights of the city as they rode through it on a tram. The bulk of the leg, however, took place on and around Lake Como in Italy's north, where teams faced the race's second Double U-Turn board and Vanck and Ashton, victims of this tough race mechanic, were eliminated form the race in seventh place.
6. How many teams raced in Venice, Italy in Leg 7?

Answer: Six

Leaving Lake Como at the start of Leg 7, six teams proceeded by bus and water taxi to the beautiful city of Venice, starting themselves off in Piazza San Marco and then navigating the narrow alleys and canals completing tricky challenges along the way.

While some teams hopped into gondolas, others transported luggage to the city's hotels. After engaging with the actors and artists of Venice, teams checked into the race's first official non-elimination Pit Stop and continued on as a half-dozen.
7. In Leg 8, teams visited this location, pictured, and took a lap around it. This landmark is the Acropolis.

Answer: False

Teams proceeded across Greece throughout Leg 8, starting in Patras, heading to a wedding, and then concluding their journey in Athens. Part of this trip include a stop-off at the Panathenaic Stadium, traditionally the finish line of the Olympic marathon.

There, both team members needed to complete a lap around this marble stadium to get their next clue. This leg, which featured significant self-driving components, included a Double U-Turn and a Speed Bump before teams checked in on an overlook beneath the Acropolis.

At the end of the leg, Liz and Michael were unable to overcome the obstacles and they were sent home.
8. The top of Hang Múa Peak was the tenth Pit Stop of the race. Which team climbed to the top to claim first place here?

Answer: Matt and Redmond

After an exhausting ninth leg of the race in Hanoi, Vietnam, teams continued in the intense heat and humidity in Ninh Bình in Leg 10, biking through the Vietnamese countryside and engaging with the most physically-demanding challenges yet, so much so that a team (Becca and Floyd) was eliminated from the race dealing with heat exhaustion. Matt and Redmond, ahead for the bulk of the leg, were the first to head to the top of Hang Múa Peak and check in at the Pit Stop, winning a trip from Travelocity for it.
9. In Seoul, South Korea, the final four teams completed a challenge at the OGN e-Stadium wherein they played what video game?

Answer: Street Fighter V

The teams' visit to the nighttime cityscape of Seoul, South Korea was the penultimate stop in the race and the final four had no shortage of activities with quick challenges and double the Road Blocks of a normal leg of the race. Visiting Gangnam District to start, teams also went sport stacking, made fresh kimchi, and played video games in an esports stadium before rushing to the Pit Stop for a chance to join the final leg of the race.
10. Wrigley Field was one of the last destinations of the race. Outside, teams met which past winners, also Chicago citizens, who allowed them to enter the stadium?

Answer: Ernie and Cindy

The final leg of the race, devoid of a Detour and Road Blocks, was a mad dash to the finish line between the final three teams who were sent all around Chicago. Stopping off at Chicagoland Speedway, Buckingham Fountain, City Hall, and Wrigley Field (amongst other destinations), the duos inevitably hit the Finish Line at Milton Lee Olive Park and unexpected underdogs Brooke and Scott claimed the one million dollar prize.
